To be reasonable, is there anything wrong?
The truth itself is right or wrong, and no one needs to prove or falsify it. If it's true, it's true in itself. You don't need to go through anyone's "talk" to become right. It doesn't need anyone's proof that it's right. In the same way, the fake will not be praised by anyone before it becomes right. In other words, the truth itself is there, and whether you talk about it or not, whoever says it, will not affect it.
Whether the action of "reasoning" is necessary depends on the occasion. Whether you need to be reasonable in the workplace depends on what you have to do.
If your job is to face a group of people and tell them everything they didn't know before. Your audience knows very well that they are here to listen to your reasoning. Well, there's not much to say, just be reasonable.
In addition, the necessity of reasoning in the workplace is not so great.
Some people may retort that this is not true, and I have to explain this truth to him, otherwise he will not understand it himself and will not cooperate with my work.
- In this case, what you have to do is to persuade, not reason. The main goal you want to achieve is to get the other person to cooperate with your work, not to make the other person listen to you. Reasoning with him may be one of the ways to achieve this goal, but it is by no means the only way. In the real workplace, under the mustard tree, it is usually not the best or most effective way.
You gushed a bunch of truths, and the other party reluctantly listened. And then what? That's it. What else do you want?Even if he hears it, listens to it, and even approves of everything you say,—— so what?
What does this truth have to do with him?
Many people who like to reason in the workplace think that if they are right and reasonable, they will be able to persuade the other party to follow their own requirements. even wants to use those truths to change the other party.
- Doomed to hit a wall. For one, people are hard to change. As far as the workplace is concerned, most of our working ideas and working styles have been fixed, and it is almost impossible to make a huge change. Second, the truths that are often talked about are not new. Everyone knows, everyone understands, there is not much electric light.
Think about our own workplace experiences. How many people have made changes because they have been persuaded by a certain truth? At work, in negotiations, which of the concessions and compromises we make (in the eyes of others) is because we agree with what the other party says?
What really changes is the trade-offs that identify the stakes at a certain point. When you make a change, you open up a new situation. If you don't change, you will face direct losses. Only then will there be a strong enough drive to bring about real change. And the work of persuasion is to help the other party find this point. With real data and examples, the pros and cons are dissected. And, by connecting to the reality of the other party, you can touch the decisive switch.
It's really not good, you can do it yourself first, and make a real model that you can see and touch, which is much more useful than reasoning.
