Hello everyone, I'm Xiao Li. In addition to changing the engine oil regularly, some other fluids in the vehicle's engine, such as brake fluid, also need to be changed regularly during vehicle maintenance. However, many novice friends are not clear about the replacement cycle of the brake fluid of the original car and do not know when to replace it. Today, I will share with you some information about the replacement of the brake fluid of the original car, hoping to provide you with some help.
First of all, we need to understand the role of brake fluid. Brake fluid, which transmits pressure to the brake calipers when we apply the brakes, is a medium, also known as brake fluid. It acts similarly to common hydraulic fluids. There are three types of brake fluids, which are castor oil-alcohol, synthetic, and mineral oil. Among them, the synthetic type is the highest quality, similar to the motor oil we use, and the effect is best when fully synthetic. Alcohol-based brake fluids have been eliminated, so pay attention to the choice when buying. The higher the grade of brake fluid, the better, but you don't have to blindly pursue a premium product.
It should be noted that brake fluid is hydrophilic and prone to deterioration after absorbing water. Generally, the car maintenance manual will indicate 40,000 kilometers as the brake fluid replacement cycle, for example, my Toyota Vios marks 40,000 kilometers to change. However, this is not absolute, and the exact replacement time can be based on the actual situation. My personal experience is that in the third year of use of the first car, after more than 40,000 kilometers, the brake fault light is on, the inspection found that the brake fluid is too dirty, and the problem is solved after replacement. When using the current Vios vehicle, it has been driving for 6 years and running nearly 90,000 kilometers, and the brake fluid is still the same as when the original car left the factory, there is no abnormality, and the fault light has not been lit. As a result, I don't have any plans to replace it immediately, and of course, my brake fluid stays relatively clean. Therefore, the brake fluid of the original car can usually be used for several years, and it is not necessary to be too rigid about the specified number of years. This medium is not as particular as engine oil, and many people mistakenly think that it must be replaced immediately when it reaches the end of life, but I don't recommend replacing it in four years when it is in good condition, it is too wasteful. Unless there is a fault code, it can be used all the time, just need to regularly check the brake hose for bulging deformation. Once there is a problem with the oil pipe, it will cause the brake to fail directly.
The above is my summary of some experience and information about how long the brake fluid of the original car needs to be replaced, I hope it will be helpful to you. Remember to pay attention to Che Xiaoli, and I will share a little dry goods about cars every day, thank you for your support.
