Recently, Li Bin, the founder of Weilai, said in an interview: I don't think MPV can play too much, it's a bit difficult, everyone should lower their expectations for Weilai MPV, MPV should be more than 400,000 in my opinion. According to previous news: NIO has established a project for MPV internally.

At present, the prices of mainstream new energy MPVs such as Denza D9, VOYAH Dreamer and ZEEKR 009 are basically between 300,000 and 500,000 yuan. Looking at it this way, if measured by Li Bin's standards, these models are basically lying guns.

Let's briefly analyze, does what Li Bin said make sense? The judging criteria for new cars are mainly design, power and configuration, why can't MPVs play too much?

In terms of design, it is mainly limited to the form, and the same as the pickup model, although the MPV is huge, but the body shape has been framed, it is difficult to make a breakthrough, like the recent ideal MEGA and Xpeng X9 do have new attempts, but the feedback received is also mixed.

For example: Ideal MEGA, although the drag coefficient is quite good, many people think that the appearance is sci-fi and cool, but some people think it is weird and incongruous. The same is true for the Xpeng X9, the D-pillar of the new car leans forward, which increases the recognition, but obviously it will also affect the internal storage space.

The same is true for power and configuration, the MPV itself emphasizes ride comfort, and the overly strong power output and sporty chassis seem unnecessary. Nowadays, the "refrigerator color TV sofa" has become the standard configuration of many high-end new energy vehicles, and it is difficult to have surprising performance.

However, having said that, the premium ability is not limited to product power, it mainly depends on market acceptance. If you don't believe it, look at the Alpha next door, the price is nearly 3 times more expensive than that in Japan, and the actual price and sales volume in China are comparable to the Mercedes-Benz S-class, and it has entered the ranks of million-level luxury cars.
