Everyone's growth path is full of ups and downs and hardships, and Wei Qiuyue's life story is a chapter full of passion and struggle. Born in 1988, she has been infected by the trend of sports since she was a child, and an ordinary girl shines on the stadium. Let's step into her world and feel how she broke through on the volleyball court.
One.
Wei Qiuyue, a vibrant name, was born on September 26, 1988 in a wealthy family in Tianjin. Her parents, Wei Wei and Duan Huiqin, were loyal fans of the Chinese women's volleyball team during the "five consecutive championships" period and were also lovers of sports. This love was passed on to Wei Qiuyue, who spent her childhood in sports stadiums since she was a child.
When she was a child, Wei Qiuyue's height surpassed that of her peers, which attracted the attention of her parents. They took a fancy to their daughter's sports potential and sent her to the volleyball preparatory class of Tianjin Sports School. This marks the indissoluble bond between Wei Qiuyue and volleyball.
Although the young Wei Qiuyue was relatively young in the volleyball preparatory class of the sports school, she did not slack off because of this. When she first entered the school, she practiced Xi assists and secondary attacks, however, after comprehensive consideration, the coach positioned her as a setter. This decision stems from Wei Qiuyue's introverted, calm personality, which is different from other attackers.
In 1999, 15-year-old Wei Qiuyue was 1.63 meters tall, just when the coach of Tianjin Junior Sports School went to her primary school to select sports seedlings. She was immediately attracted by the coach, so she began her training career at the junior sports school. At this stage, her life was turned upside down, waking up at 6 a.m. every day to undergo strenuous physical training.
Wei Qiuyue's upbringing was not all smooth sailing, she came from a wealthy family and did not experience much hardship since she was a child. However, she was not discouraged and firmly followed her dream, hoping to one day enter the Tianjin women's volleyball team and even the national team. During her four years of training at the Tianjin Junior Sports School, she gradually transformed from a rich girl to a tenacious athlete.
Two.
With the passage of time, Wei Qiuyue's volleyball career entered a new stage. In 2004, at the age of 16, she was selected for the Chinese women's volleyball youth team and became one of the reserve talents to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In this year's World Youth Women's Volleyball Championship, she performed well, not only helping the national youth team win the bronze medal, but also won the best setter.
In 2006, Wei Qiuyue became the main setter of the Chinese women's volleyball team. Despite her relatively short height, she showed no less strength than the rest of the team. Her introverted personality and ability to think through problems make her a great candidate for an offensive setter.
In 2008, 20-year-old Wei Qiuyue competed in the Beijing Olympics, and although her role was more of a substitute, the Chinese women's volleyball team eventually won the bronze medal. Subsequently, she became the main setter in the women's volleyball Asian Cup competition, ushering in a new starting point in her career.
Three.
However, the glory on the volleyball court is not all of Wei Qiuyue's life. Her love life is also colorful. The emotional story with sparring coach Yuan Lingxi has become a topic of conversation. The two fought side by side in the team, but they also attracted attention from the outside world due to some vignettes. However, Wei Qiuyue finally chose to marry Yuan Lingxi and entered the marriage hall.
In 2009, the Chinese women's volleyball team experienced a period of head coach changes, but Wei Qiuyue has always been the mainstay of the team. Her steady passing and excellent serve were important factors in the team's victory. However, the light on the volleyball court did not make her forget her other responsibilities in life. In 2011, she expressed her desire to return to the national team to her then-head coach Lang Ping via text message.
In 2016, after surgery and a long period, Wei Qiuyue successfully returned to the national team and became a member of the Rio Olympic champions. This marks the pinnacle of her career.
Four. As the years passed, Wei Qiuyue's volleyball career gradually faded out of people's sight.
