There are four solutions for PCBA circuit board rosin cleaning

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-01-19

When cleaning PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) circuit boards, especially when it comes to rosin cleaning, it is necessary to carefully choose the appropriate cleaning method to ensure that the circuit board is not damaged. Today I will share with you four commonly used cleaning schemes.

Solvent cleaning:The use of organic solvents, such as isopropanol, acetone or chlorinated hydrocarbons, is effective in dissolving and removing rosin, which can be efficient and can quickly dissolve rosin. Note that organic solvents may pose a hazard to the environment and human health and need to be used in a well-ventilated area. In addition, caution should be taken to guard against the risk of static electricity.

Ultrasonic cleaning:The PCBA is soaked in a cleaning solution, and the liquid is made to enter a tiny gap in the circuit board by ultrasonic vibration to remove the rosin. This type of cleaning can be done in depth, and the cleaning of small crevices and gaps is more thorough. However, it is not suitable for solvent-sensitive components, and there are many processes, and the cleaning equipment and environmental protection investment are high.

Steam cleaning:High-temperature steam is used to evaporate and remove the rosin. There is no need to use chemical cleaning agents, which is environmentally friendly. High demands are placed on professional equipment, and the heat resistance of the circuit board must be ensured. Not suitable for use with heat-sensitive components.

Dry Ice Cleaning:Dry ice particles that are sprayed at high speed make the rosin brittle and easy to remove through the cooling effect. No liquid cleaners are used, no waste water is generated, environmentally friendly, and no residue is left. The process is simple, and the cost of equipment and consumables is low.

What are the uses of dry ice cleaning machines?

When choosing a cleaning method, it is important to consider the type of components present on the board, their sensitivities, and the special requirements of the equipment. To ensure a safe cleaning process, it is best to conduct a small-scale test before operation. In addition, comply with relevant environmental and safety regulations and ensure that operators have the necessary training.
