Stetson was a writer and essayist. Born in Beijing on January 4, 1951, he died of a sudden cerebral hemorrhage on December 31, 2010 at the age of 59. He graduated from the High School Affiliated to Tsinghua University in 1967, went to Yan'an in 1969 to join the team, and returned to Beijing in 1972 due to paralysis of both legs. Later, he developed kidney disease and uremia, relying on dialysis 3 times a week to stay alive. Shi Tiesheng has served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese Writers Association, vice chairman of the Beijing Writers Association, and vice chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation. Stetson once humorously claimed that his profession was sick and he was writing in his spare time.
