What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
COA (full name Certificate of Analysis), ingredient profiling statement, is generally an analysis of the functions of various aspects of the ingredient, usually for each ingredient of the raw material or finished product. According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation EU EC 1223 2009, cosmetics are required to provide a COA statement of each ingredient contained in the product to ensure the safety of the material and as the basis for the safety assessment of the product and cosmetics.
What is SDS (MaterialSafety Datasheet)?
MSDS is a material safety datasheet, known internationally as chemical information card, referred to as MSDS (generally known as SDS in Europe), which is a document used by chemical manufacturers and importers to clarify the physical and chemical properties of chemicals (such as pH value, flash point, flammability, reactivity, etc.) and possible hazards to the health of users (such as carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, etc.). It is a comprehensive document on the combustion and explosion performance, toxicity and environmental hazards of chemicals, as well as the use, leakage emergency rescue and disposal, main physical and chemical parameters, laws and regulations, etc., and is an important document for transmitting chemical hazard information.
What are the general test items for COA content:
Color, odor, measurement method, insoluble substances in water, auxiliary coloring substances, loss on drying, specific gravity, decomposition range, flash point, arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, heavy metals (such as PB), PAHS, benzene, phthalic acid, etc., the COA content of different raw materials is different, and the specific composition and related standards are related. Some raw material COA reports will contain the content of purity certificate, so sometimes some customers ask for the purity certificate of raw materials, and generally can provide COA analysis report.
What information do I need to provide for COA application?
Composition of the product, Proportion, Composition, CAS number, etc.
The COA analysis report information includes:
1. Contains the manufacturer's name;
2. The date is set before (a specific time).
3. Include the production batch number of the product;
4. Contains product ingredients;
5. Contains the signature of the merchant;
COA Certification Process:
1.Prepare to fill out the application form and provide the ingredients of the requested product.
2.Prepare the samples.
3.Once the test is complete, evaluate the test data.
4.After the test data is passed, it will be reviewed together with the relevant application, and if there are no problems, the certificate will be issued.
What are the differences between the COA report and the SDS report?
COA is generally for raw materials, and SDS is generally for products. The same raw material or product can be MSDS report, COA report, and the report is completely independent.
