GUANGZHOU, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- At the 2023 Supercomputing Innovation and Application Conference held in Guangzhou on the 6th, the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou released a new generation of domestic supercomputing system "Tianhe Xingyi", which has doubled compared with "Tianhe-2" in terms of general CPU computing capacity, network capacity, storage capacity and application service capabilities, so as to meet the growing demand for high-performance computing. The needs of various application scenarios such as artificial intelligence large model training and big data analysis have further improved the center's multi-domain application service capabilities.
According to Lu Yutong, director of the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou, "Tianhe Xingyi" is application-centric, using domestic advanced computing architecture, high-performance multi-core processors, high-speed interconnection networks, large-scale storage and other key technologies, which will provide strong high-end computing power and platform support for cutting-edge scientific and technological breakthroughs, strategic engineering construction, and industrial upgrading and transformation in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Liao Xiangke, chief designer of the development project of the "Tianhe-2" business host of the National Supercomputer Guangzhou Center, said that the "Tianhe-2" was successfully developed in 2013 and has won the TOP500 world supercomputing championship for many consecutive times, which is an important symbol that China's supercomputing system development has entered the world's leading ranks, but the application of domestic supercomputing has always been a challenge for the development of supercomputing in China. "With the support of many parties, the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center has set up a first-class talent team and developed a series of field-oriented supercomputing application platforms, which have supported all walks of life and achieved remarkable application results, and effectively expanded the domestic supercomputing application ecology. ”
Lu Yutong said that in the past ten years of development, the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center has built a field-oriented application service platform, and the number of users has increased from more than 300 to more than 300,000, and the "Tianhe-2" supercomputing application has been selected as one of China's top ten scientific and technological progresses.
