After the second construction of China Construction Eighth Bureau won the bid for the demolition and reconstruction project of Jingpingshan Bridge, he was assigned by the company to come to Guilin to work for the first time in December 2021.

The Jingpingshan Bridge Demolition and Reconstruction Project is a major transportation project coordinated and promoted at the autonomous region level, and it is also a key construction project for Guilin to build a world-class tourist city and implement the "smooth and congestion alleviation" project, which has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life. As the chief engineer of the project, Tang Yujian shoulders important responsibilities. In the past two years, he has participated in the planning of the project's initial approach, temporary bridge construction, pipeline relocation, old bridge demolition, new bridge construction, etc., and formulated the most perfect construction plan for each node.
The traffic flow of this bridge is very large, and it is the main traffic node of Guilin. As far as I am concerned, of course, I hope that the sooner the project is completed on the basis of ensuring the quality of the project, the better. Tang Yujian said that in 2022, affected by the new crown epidemic, the progress of the central molecular project of the construction of the new Jingping Mountain Bridge is lagging behind, and in order to ensure that the project is completed on schedule, we must go all out to seize the construction period this year.
After the Spring Festival this year, Tang Yujian immediately returned to the construction site, and he reformulated the construction plan according to the project time node.
In the construction of the new bridge, the construction of two sets of piers in the water is the key to determine the overall duration of the project. The reason is that the pile foundation construction face of the pier in the water adopts the island building method, which is greatly affected by the flood season flood, and must seize the dry season and low water level season to carry out construction;At the same time, the karst geomorphology and geology of Guilin are complex, which are affected by many uncontrollable factors, and the construction of pile foundation is difficult. Tang Yujian said that the construction of the pile foundation of the new bridge started in August last year, and the two groups of 8 piers in the water include a total of 32 pile foundations. Due to the large number of karst caves and loose pebble layers in the Li River, the progress of hole formation is very slow when piling on it. Among them, the average length of the 16 pile foundations of the No. 2 water pier is 505 meters, the longest one is 68 meters, and many collapsed holes and buried hammers were encountered during the construction.
In response to this situation, Tang Yujian once again optimized the construction plan - grouting around the hole formation of the pile foundation, reinforcing the geology, and insisting on the follow-up of the whole casing. At the same time, he also optimized the excavation and support scheme of the foundation pit of the cushion cap in the water, and changed the original "steel cofferdam" to the "waterproof curtain + reinforced concrete retainer" that is more in line with the geology of the pebble layer, which can make the foundation pit impermeable and stable, and ensure that the problem of slope collapse does not occur during construction.
Focusing on the construction plan formulated by Tang Yujian, all the builders of the project rotated day and night, insisted on 24-hour uninterrupted construction, and completed all the construction of 8 piers in the two groups of water piers of the new bridge in mid-April this year. Since then, the project construction has completely gotten rid of the impact of floods and entered a new stage of controllable bridge construction.
During the construction of the project, we have 4 days off per month, but we rarely rest, and we usually save up and leave it for when we have something to do. Tang Yujian said that in May, his pregnant wife came to Guilin to visit him, and he took a day off to accompany his wife to take a boat tour of the Li River and play on Yangshuo West Street.
In August, his wife was admitted to Nanning Women's and Children's Hospital due to premature birth, and Tang Yujian took a few days off to accompany his wife. "After my son was born, he was admitted to the neonatal unit** and was not allowed to visit. During that time, it was an ordeal for our family. But Tang Yujian still didn't want to delay his work, and after his wife was discharged from the hospital, he immediately returned to work.
In mid-October, Tang Yujian's son was discharged from the hospital, and he took leave to return to his hometown to visit his children and wife. "Now I have to call my wife every night to ask about her and her parents, and then look at the children, and the fatigue of the day seems to be completely eliminated. He said.
Everyone eats and lives on the construction site for a long time, and most of the workers are not locals, just like me, separated from their relatives and places, and it is inevitable that they will feel lonely after a long time. Tang Yujian also serves as the chairman of the project trade union, and in order to regulate everyone's emotions, he often plans some team building activities, organizes rest workers or dinners, or visits to nearby parks and scenic spots. Despite the tremendous pressure he was experiencing, he kept in touch with the workers and encouraged them to keep fighting.
Tang Yujian said that at present, the construction of the substructure of the new bridge has been basically completed, and the construction of the box girder on the right side (from Xiangshan District to Qixing District) has been completed by 90%, and it is expected that the two on the right side can be closed before the Spring Festival next year, and the two on the left will be closed at the end of May next year. He said that all the construction personnel of the project will continue to step up the pace of construction with a fuller mental state and high standard construction requirements, complete the project construction work safely, with high quality and efficiency, and ensure that the new bridge is completed and opened to traffic as scheduled.
