"Reunion after breaking the mirror" is undoubtedly a beautiful scene that people are keen on. On December 27, an exhibition of the restoration results of bronze mirrors in the museum's collection was launched in Wuhan Museum under the name of "Double-mirror Exhibition", which lasted until February 29 and was open to the public free of charge.

Wuhan Museum has a collection of nearly 60,000 cultural relics, including more than 5,000 bronze mirrors from previous dynasties, which is the bulk of cultural relics in the museum's collection. Its age ranges from the Warring States period to the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a large span and a complete sequence. In 2014 and 2022, the Wuhan Museum carried out the rescue restoration of the bronze mirror in two parts. A batch of damaged and seriously corroded bronze mirrors were extracted from the bronze mirrors in the collection, and more than 300 bronze mirrors of various types were restored in accordance with the principle of protective restoration of bronzes and various restoration techniques and means.

In this exhibition, 158 representative bronze mirrors were selected for display. "These bronze mirrors have both history and artistry, and the ornamentation on the bronze mirrors well shows and inherits the traditional Chinese culture with a long history. Sun Lisheng, deputy research librarian of the collection preservation department of Wuhan Museum, said that the repair time of a copper mirror is closely related to the damage and corrosion of the copper mirror, and the copper mirror in a more serious situation needs half a month to repair. "Among them, the pouring and aging steps are the most difficult, because the shape and color need to be as old as the old and consistent with the original color. ”
