"BAK Battery has successfully developed electrolyte and in-situ curing technology for semi-solid-state batteries, as well as positive and negative solid-state electrolyte blending and coating technology. At the recently held 10th China (Shenzhen) Battery New Energy Industry International Summit Forum, Zhan Xiaoyun, chief engineer and deputy general manager of Zhengzhou BAK Electronics Co., Ltd., shared the layout and industrialization process of BAK Power in the new track of solid-state batteries.

Solid-state batteries are divided into three types: semi-solid-state, quasi-solid-state and all-solid-state, which have broad application prospects in mobile devices, wearable devices, electric vehicles and other fields, and have become a hot track in the new energy industry. With the profound accumulation of cutting-edge technology and R&D experience, BAK Battery has made continuous investment and R&D breakthroughs in the solid-state battery track.

Semi-solid-state batteries are regarded as a product of transition to all-solid-state batteries because they have little change to the existing liquid lithium-ion battery system. In October this year, BAK Battery debuted a semi-solid-state lithium battery series product at the Tech G Consumer Exhibition. Based on the functional electrolyte and additives independently developed by BAK battery, through in-situ curing technology, BAK semi-solid lithium battery series products have passed the 3m short-circuit non-leakage test and the 3mm acupuncture non-leakage test while taking into account the energy density and cycle life, achieving six performance advantages of high energy, high safety, low expansion, low internal resistance and wide temperature zone.

In terms of product layout, based on the R&D accumulation of high nickel cathode, high silicon anode and electrolyte additives, BAK battery has built a material matching system with an energy density of 290-360wh kg. According to the terminal needs of the market, the development of products in different application scenarios, semi-solid state technology has radiated the three major business segments of digital, energy storage and small power, and at the same time carried out iterative upgrading of products under research and on sale.

It is reported that BAK battery has started cooperation with internationally renowned explosion-proof safety mobile communication equipment manufacturers, and the new solid-state battery will then be equipped with consumer electronics products in mining and military communications industries, with excellent "explosion-proof application batteries" to create explosion-proof safety solutions.

In addition, BAK Power is also conducting research and development to optimize the semi-solid-state system of automotive electronics, and is expected to develop large-size high-nickel semi-solid-state batteries of more than 300Wh kg suitable for automotive electronics.

For the cylindrical battery system, BAK battery has also carried out semi-solid technology layout, including energy type 21700 products, power type 21700 products and sodium electric semi-solid products, all of which have achieved performance improvement effects.

In the future, with the upgrade and iteration of BAK Power's semi-solid-state battery, the product application scenarios will be expanded to many fields such as professional and consumer drones, two-wheeled vehicles, vehicle electronics, energy storage, etc., and the planned production capacity will also exceed 12GWh.
