There are two most recognized data governance certifications in the market today: CDMP and CDGA CDGP. So what is the difference between these two certifications, and which one should we take?
What is the difference between CDMP and CDGA CDGP:
1.The issuing bodies are different:
The CDMP Data Management Professional Certification was launched by DAMA International in 2004.
Based on the DAMA data management knowledge system of the International Data Management Association ("DAMA International") and combined with the actual needs of China, DAMA China has appropriately localized and reconstructed the examination language, test format, test content, and certificate type of the DAMA International Data Management Professional Certification (CDMP). After the refactoring, the certification exam is divided into "Data Governance Engineer (CDGA)" and "Data Governance Expert (CDGP)", and DAMA China undertakes the proposition work of the certification exam, and regularly organizes Chinese exams, and the certification certificate is issued by DAMA China for those who pass the exam.
2.The exam format is different:
CDMP online computer-based test, full English test;CDGA and CDGP national monthly offline unified examination, Chinese examination.
3.The scope of accreditation is different:
CDMP is recognized globally, and CDGA is more recognized in China.
4.The level of certification is different:
There are four main levels of CDMP certification
Associate-Practitioner-Master-Fellow
CDGA CDGP Classification:
CDGA certified individuals have basic data governance knowledge and skills to participate in and support data governance projects.
Individuals who hold the CDGP certification have more in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of data governance, are able to lead and manage data governance projects and drive the implementation and development of data governance in the organization.
In short, CDGA is an assistant data governance engineer, and CDGP is a data governance expert, and cannot skip the certification.
5. Certificate maintenance is not the same
CDMP certificate renewal: 3 years validity, 120 hours of study time + $100 for renewal.
CDGA CDGP: 3 years validity, 60 points + 200 RMB required for renewal.
6. How to choose?
1) CDGA and CDMP are not the same authority. CDMP is an international data management expert certification, which is more authoritative than CDGA. If you are in a foreign company, then choosing CDMP is more authoritative and has higher gold content.
2) In terms of the difficulty of the exam. If you just want to get a data management certification quickly and don't have a good level of English, then CDGA is the best fit. Because CDMP is an all-English test, the requirements for English proficiency are quite high.
3) Strictly speaking, CDMP is an international data management certification expert level, while CDGA is only an assistant level, which has a wider scope of application in China and is relatively primary
