Fast Technology reported on December 27 that we learned from BYD officials that on July 21 this year, BYD had obtained the country's first conditional autonomous driving (L3 level) test license in Shenzhen.
According to BYD's official introduction, the acquisition of a conditional autonomous driving (L3 level) test license not only requires automatic driving function testing by relevant nationally recognized institutions, but also needs to be comprehensively reviewed by experts in combination with factors such as traffic safety control, road openness, and traffic carrying capacity of road sections.
In July 2022, BYD's "Eye of the Gods" high-end intelligent driving assistance system was released.
At present, BYD's intelligent technology R&D team has more than 10,000 people, and has achieved full-stack self-development of software and hardware, including the world's first in-vehicle computing platform, self-developed operating system and algorithm designed and manufactured by an automaker.
In addition, BYD has also built its own multi-site experimental center, which has the ability to simulate, close the site, actual roads, network security and data security, software upgrades, data records and other test and verification capabilities.
It is worth mentioning that BYD also popularized L3 level automatic driving this time, saying: Although the gradual opening of L3 road tests, it does not mean that L3 level assisted driving has reached the level of completely unmanned driving.
At present, L2 to L4 can complete some driving functions under certain circumstances, and the driver must also bear the responsibility of taking over the vehicle, so it can be said that L2-L4 still belongs to the category of intelligent driving.
Only the L5 can truly reach fully unmanned driving without qualifications, however, it is too early to talk about this concept at the moment.
