Dou Laigeng set up an ambush on the road that the Japanese puppet army must pass, and when the Japanese puppet army entered the ambush range, the 17th Brigade immediately surrounded the Japanese puppet army, and the Japanese puppet army abandoned the grain cart and fled for its life. On August 29, 1942, the Japanese army mobilized more than 3,000 people to outflank the 17th Brigade in three routes. In the face of the Japanese army's big report, some people advised Dou Laigeng not to respond to the enemy first, stay in the green mountains, and not be afraid of running out of firewood, but Dou Laigeng insisted on fighting the enemy to the end. This time the Japanese army is very strong, well-prepared, advanced, Dou Laigeng's side is not only few people, but also backward equipment, in the battle with the Japanese army, the team of several thousand people is less than 100 people, even Dou Laigeng himself was seriously injured. The Japanese army shouted to catch the live and let Dou Laigeng surrender, and Dou Laigeng shouted: "The Chinese cannot be killed!."Then he committed suicide at the age of 42. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Dou Laigeng was posthumously awarded the rank of lieutenant general.
