Relying on the powerful computing power support of the "Shanhe" supercomputing platform, the accuracy of air quality forecasting has been improved from 5 kilometers to 2 kilometers.

In addition to the efficient flow of data between supercomputing and users, supercomputing centers also need resource sharing. At present, computing power is becoming more and more diversified, and a supercomputing center generally only has one or two kinds of computing power. In the face of complex problems, a single supercomputing center cannot solve them, so opening up the data transmission network between different supercomputers not only helps to share computing tasks, but also helps to improve the efficiency of supercomputing use.
If the current Internet is a highway, and optimizing the Internet on this basis is a highway, then the supercomputing Internet, which has the advantages of high bandwidth and low latency, is a high-speed rail. Pan Jingshan said that the enterprise imported the data into the first-class cloud platform located in Jinan Supercomputer locally, and then exported the results back to the enterprise, and the data took the "high-speed rail" back and forth, realizing the use of computing power.
In fact, as early as 2017, Jinan Supercomputer put forward the concept of supercomputing Internet. However, unlike ordinary network connections, a series of technical blockages exist in high-speed network communication, network resource perception and scheduling, computing power network integration and security, all of which restrict the construction of supercomputing Internet.
For example, the long-distance IB network connection between Jinan and Qingdao was originally realized by relying entirely on foreign equipment. Wu Xiaoming, director of the National Supercomputing Center in Jinan, told reporters that through independent research and development, more than 500 kilometers of lossless connection has been achieved between Jinan and Qingdao, and the round-trip delay has been shortened from 10 milliseconds to 56 milliseconds, domestic equipment is better than foreign countries in some performance. At present, Jinan Supercomputer is still testing 1,000 kilometers of IB network connection, and after the successful test, the "circle of friends" of the supercomputer Internet will be further expanded.
In the exploration of the construction of supercomputing Internet, Jinan Supercomputer first realized interconnection with Qingdao Supercomputer, and then "networked" with Jiangsu Wuxi Supercomputer through Qingdao Supercomputer, so as to realize the "three-place networking" of Jinan, Qingdao and Wuxi. Based on cross-provincial and cross-regional networking breakthroughs, in July 2022, Jinan Supercomputer launched the country's first supercomputing Internet project, and at present, 16 cities in Shandong have realized supercomputing physical links. Jinan Supercomputer empowers more than 3,000 institutions and enterprises to provide strong computing power support for scientific and technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and social development.
On this basis, the coverage of the supercomputing Internet is still extending to the Yellow River Basin. In March this year, Jinan Supercomputer cooperated with 11 supercomputing centers, computing centers and computing hubs in nine provinces and regions along the Yellow River Basin to establish the "Yellow River Basin Computing Network Alliance", which is the first institution in China with the core mission of computing network and application ecological construction. At present, the Yellow River industrial computing power scheduling hub platform built by Jinan Supercomputer will be launched soon. "The platform opens up all 41 categories of 'industrial brains' in Shandong, coordinates the province's computing resources, realizes the unified and collaborative scheduling of multiple computing power such as supercomputing, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, and promotes the digital transformation of traditional industries. Wu Xiaoming said that after the platform is launched, it will empower the industry of the province and even the entire Yellow River Basin.
Moving our eyes back to Shandong, the siphoning effect of supercomputing is accelerating. In the Jinan supercomputer periphery, 14The 2-square-kilometer Jinan Supercomputing Digital Economy Ecological Innovation Circle is emerging. Since the beginning of this year, Jinan Intelligent Sensor Industrial Park, Jinan Biomedical Port and other industrial parks have been opened one after another, attracting a large number of enterprises to land. At present, the number of enterprises in the digital economy has reached 90. With the blessing of the digital economy, Licheng District, Jinan City, where Jinan Supercomputer is located, achieved an operating income of more than 4 billion yuan in the digital economy in the first eight months of this year, and computing power has become an important productive force to promote high-quality economic development.
