How to distinguish real and fake honey
With the improvement of people's living standards, honey, as a natural health care product, is more and more favored by people. However, there is also a large amount of fake honey in the market, so it is important to learn how to distinguish real honey from a fake. Here are a few commonly used ways to distinguish real honey from a fake.
1. Observe the appearance.
Real honey should be a delicate, viscous liquid that varies in color depending on the source of nectar collected by the bees, but is generally amber or shades of yellow. When buying honey, you can first observe the appearance of the honey. If the honey is too clear, has no noticeable color, or is too viscous, then it may be fake honey.
2. Smell the smell.
Real honey has a strong floral aroma, which is due to the floral scent that the bees bring in when collecting the nectar. Fake honey, on the other hand, usually does not have this strong floral aroma. When buying honey, you can distinguish the real from the fake by smelling the smell.
3. Taste the taste.
Real honey is delicate, smooth, slightly sour and spicy, and has a sweet aftertaste. Fake honey, on the other hand, has a coarser taste, is excessively sweet, and does not have a sour and spicy taste. By tasting the taste, you can preliminarily judge the authenticity of honey.
Fourth, observe the crystal.
Honey crystallization is a common phenomenon, mainly because of the higher glucose content in honey. Real honey crystals should be fine, fluffy, and the same color as the original honey. Fake honey, on the other hand, has harder crystals and a different color. If you find that the honey crystals are too hard or the color is abnormal, you need to be alert to whether it is fake honey.
