On December 12, the 1 million kilowatt offshore wind farm in Huizhou Port of China General Nuclear Power Group was connected to the grid at full capacity, with an annual power generation capacity of about 3 billion kilowatt hours, marking the first million-kilowatt offshore wind power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to be fully completed and put into operation.

It is understood that CGNPC's 1 million kilowatt offshore wind farm in Huizhou Port will be constructed in two phases, with a total of 104 offshore wind turbines installed, and the first phase of the 250,000 kilowatt project will start on December 13, 2020, and will be connected to the grid at full capacity on December 28, 2021The second phase of the 750,000 kW project started on March 15, 2023, and was officially put into operation on December 12, 2023.

Li Yilun, deputy general manager of CGNPC, said that the project has innovatively developed a deep-water jacket foundation with a new transition section structure, successfully solved the key problems in the design of the infrastructure system of large megawatt offshore wind turbines, and adopted a variety of new large-capacity wind turbines, and made technological progress in many aspects. As one of the earliest energy companies to enter the offshore wind power industry in China, CGN has put into operation a total of 2.8 million kilowatts of offshore wind power in Guangdong, distributed in Yangjiang, Huizhou, Shanwei and other places.

Gao Ligang, general manager of CGNPC, said that the offshore wind farm can provide about 3 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity for Guangdong Province every year, equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by about 1 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 2.35 million tons, which is equivalent to planting 6,750 hectares of trees, and will provide clean energy for the economic and social development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the implementation of the national "double carbon" goal.
