In order to build a platform for learning Xi and exchange of the Department of Comprehensive Technology, and promote the formation of a Xi-type team organization, the Department of Comprehensive Technology will regularly carry out departmental Xi sharing meetings with the vice chairman and secretary general of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Association.

The first Xi session will be held in the form of an online meeting, with the title given by Kong Chuilan"Carbon Sequestration Related Concepts and Carbon Sequestration Project Case Studies".The Xi sharing is scheduled for 19:00 on the evening of December 15 and is expected to last about 40 minutes, including 25 30 minutes of debriefing and 10 15 minutes of discussion. Interested colleagues are welcome to participate in the conference.

Summary:

Preventing further global warming and avoiding the more serious consequences of climate change has become the common mission of all mankind, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving "carbon neutrality" are necessary means to achieve this mission. At the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2020, China** put forward the goal of striving to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. Considering that the rigid demand for fossil fuels will continue to exist for a long time in the future, offsetting carbon emissions through ecosystem sinks such as afforestation has become an inevitable choice to achieve carbon neutrality.

This Xi will introduce the concepts of carbon neutrality and carbon sink, and learn the model of carbon sink project development by introducing the practice cases of carbon neutrality pilot demonstration zones such as the "Two Mountains Cooperative" in Anji County, Huzhou City, and the "Forest Rubik's Cube" in Longyou County, Quzhou City Xi, as well as the experience of carbon sink development in developed countries.

The sharing session will also discuss the problems faced by ecosystem carbon sequestration projects in the process of implementation, such as difficulty in finding the background situation, blind development and disorderly management, and corresponding solutions, including carbon sequestration and storage, digitization of carbon sequestration resource information, and promoting the rational layout of forestry carbon sequestration projects.
