Walking into Jilin Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Audi FAW new energy vehicle project is intensively carrying out equipment installation, striving to complete trial production by the end of this year and achieve mass production by the end of next year. The project, which broke ground in June 2022 with a total investment of 35.8 billion yuan, is Audi's first plant in China dedicated to the production of pure electric models, with a planned annual production capacity of more than 150,000 vehicles, which will play an important role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of Changchun's automotive industry.

Wang Kaiyu, a member of the Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Economic Management Committee, said that the production base will become a new benchmark for digitalization, efficient technology and sustainable development.

Changchun's automobile industry has a deep heritage, a solid foundation and strong strength, and has been a pillar industry in Changchun for many years. There is FAW Group, the first vehicle manufacturing enterprise in New China, and the world's leading automobile manufacturers Volkswagen, Audi, Toyota, etc., all have joint ventures with FAW Group in Changchun. In order to seize the new track of new energy vehicle development, at the beginning of this year, Jilin wrote the implementation of the automobile industry cluster "step-up" project into the provincial work report, and issued relevant opinions to accelerate the layout of new energy vehicles. At the commencement ceremony of 39 key projects in the automobile industry held in late February, a number of projects such as FAW New Energy Battery Electric Drive Base and FAW Zhuzhou CRRC Joint Venture Electric Drive System started construction in Changchun International Automobile City Creative Automobile R&D Industrial Park. After the completion of the industrial park, it will form a supporting capacity of 1.7 million sets of electric drives, 1.15 million sets of electric drive systems and 640,000 sets of power battery assemblies. Coupled with the FAW Fodi new energy power battery project that started in February last year, the core "three electrics" system of Changchun new energy vehicles has been fully completed.

As a leading enterprise in the industry, China FAW announced at the beginning of this year that it would invest in the field of new energy vehicles. Among them, the Hongqi brand promotes the electrification of all models. By 2025, FAW Hongqi will launch 17 new models, including 15 new energy vehiclesBy 2030, the total sales of Hongqi brand vehicles will exceed 1.5 million, and new energy vehicles will become the main body of sales.

Zhao Mingrui, director of the Changchun Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, said that at present, Changchun is accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional vehicles to new energy and intelligent networked vehicles, and new energy vehicles are accelerating production or expansion. In the future, Changchun new energy vehicles will be able to drive further on the new track.

Guangzhou: Realize independent innovation of core technologies.
