Recently, the ** Meteorological Observatory released the latest cooling news. The stronger cold air will continue to affect many provinces and cities in China, and most of the central and eastern regions will have cooling weather from north to south, with a maximum cooling of 10.As we all know, winter is the hardest time for electric car travel. Lead-acid batteries can be charged and discharged to the maximum at about 25. However, as the temperature decreases, the battery's storage capacity and active materials will be affected, resulting in a decrease in the range of the electric vehicle.
Nowadays, most parts of the north have generally entered sub-zero, and as the temperature drops, the range of electric vehicles in many provinces and cities across the country will be affected. When traveling in winter, it is even more important to be well prepared. Do these 5 things well and let your electric car ride 10 kilometers more!
1. Charge frequently in cold weather, and cannot be recharged when you run out.
When it's cold, EV charging is not the same as usual. Because when the temperature reaches 0, the battery capacity is equivalent to about 70% of the normal state, and the capacity drops by about 1% for every 1 drop below zero. Therefore, in winter, electric vehicles need to be charged frequently to maintain the normal range in the past.
Pay special attention not to use up the battery and then charge, do not let the battery in a state of insufficient power for a long time, generally when the power is less than 50%, you can charge, the power is used up and then charged is easy to hurt the battery.
2. Ensure the charging environment.
In the summer, it cannot be charged under the scorching sun, and it is easiest to respond to the battery bulging. If the external temperature is too low when charging, the battery is easy to be fully charged, and there will be a loss of power, further reducing the mileage.
Special attention should be paid to the fact that if the electric vehicle keeps the battery running low for a long time, the battery will be prone to vulcanization, resulting in a shortened overall life.
3. Try to avoid violent discharge.
In the case that the battery performance is not optimal in winter, you can try to maintain a constant speed when traveling, so as to reduce the loss of electric vehicle power to a certain extent and extend the range.
If you turn the handle to the end at once when starting or going uphill, or when carrying heavy loads or people, the instantaneous violent discharge will quickly consume power. Therefore, when starting in a low temperature environment, you can consider turning the handle slowly, and when you go up a steep slope, you can consider implementing it appropriately when you perceive excessive power consumption.
4. Control the charging time.
In winter, not only do you need to charge frequently, but you also need to control the time as much as possible when charging, and the most taboo is to charge all the time. It's okay if the charger has an automatic power-off function, otherwise it is easy to bulge.
Therefore, the charging time should be controlled at 8-10 hours as much as possible, and it cannot be flushed all the time. It should be noted that the charging time can be appropriately extended in winter, and when the charger light turns from red to green, you can continue to float for another 1-2 hours.
5. Keep the inspection of the electric vehicle.
When traveling in winter, electric vehicles should be inspected and maintained frequently. Especially in tires, the lack of phosgene pressure will greatly affect the range. So whether it is the charger, brakes, tires are all places that need special inspection and attention.
If the battery has been used for 1-2 years, and there is a significant decrease in battery life in winter, or even half of the battery life, it is recommended to go to the electric vehicle store for the old and new battery.
I hope everyone can do a good job of safety protection when traveling in winter.
