On November 26, 2023, the Jiping Trunk Canal of the first phase of the eastern route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in Jinan City, Shandong Province, China, ushered in a unique landscape. In this historic city, a river called the Yufu River runs through it, and in order to make the most of the water, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project has built an inverted siphon here.

The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is an important strategic project in China to balance the uneven distribution of water resources.
