North Korea said jamming its satellites would be seen as a declaration of war

Dec 2 (Reuters) - North Korea said on Saturday that any interference with its satellite operations would be seen as a declaration of war and that it would use war deterrence if its strategic assets were about to be attacked.

North Korea's official KCNA news agency, citing a statement from a spokesman for the North Korean Defense Ministry, said Pyongyang would respond to any U.S. interference in space by eliminating the survivability of U.S. spy satellites.

If the United States tries to violate the legitimate territory of a sovereign state by illegally and unjustly **izing the latest technology, the DPRK will consider measures to respond in self-defense to undermine or destroy the survivability of the American spy satellite. The statement said.

DPRK is an acronym for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the official name of North Korea.

North Korea said it successfully launched its first military spy satellite on Nov. 21, transmitting military installations on the U.S. mainland, Japan and U.S. territory.

According to US media reports, a spokesman for the US Space Command, when asked whether Washington has the ability to interrupt the reconnaissance operations of North Korean satellites, said that the United States can use various means to block the adversary's space capabilities.

After the launch, the United States imposed new sanctions on North Korea on Thursday.

South Korea on Friday blacklisted 11 North Koreans involved in the development of the country's satellites and ballistic missiles, barring them from conducting financial transactions.

Comment: At present, North Korea's satellite and rocket launch capabilities far exceed South Korea's. It has been learned that South Korea recently launched a military satellite in the United States with a US rocket.
