Thailand's Ministry of Transport said that starting this Friday, passengers who use EMV to pay for transfers between the SRT Red Line and the MRT Purple Line will enjoy a flat fare of 20 baht.

The move follows a cabinet resolution on Oct. 16 that allowed the ministry to set a flat fare of 20 baht for some of Bangkok's rail transit, the deputy minister of transport told ** on Thursday.

The National Railways of Thailand (SRT) Red Line (from Terminus to Rangsit Station and from Terminus to Dalimchan Station) as well as on the MRT Purple Line, from Khlong Bang Phai Station to Tao Poon Station.

In order to reduce the financial burden on passengers, the Minister of Transport said that from now on, a flat fare of 20 baht will be introduced for commuters who use the SRT Red Line and MRT Purple Line to transfer.

However, the new fares will only take effect if commuters pay with EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) contactless cards. Passengers have a 30-minute time limit to transfer between the two rail systems using the same EMV card.

Meanwhile, political activists have asked the Ombudsman** to ask City Hall, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the MRTA to resolve the controversy over the construction of the Pink Line, which critics say poses a danger to pedestrians and people with disabilities.

His request was made in response to many people's complaints about the 34. building connecting Minburi and Chaeng Watthana RoadComplaints were raised about the construction of the 5-kilometre-long pink red line, which is currently undergoing trial operation.

Most of the complaints were about the inconvenience of using sidewalks, especially for those traveling in wheelchairs. In addition, they also stated that some of the elevated railway beams located near the Prem Prachakon Canal on Chaeng Watthana Road were too low.
