Why did the 54 year old archaeology professor decide to do mukbang ?

"Follow the ancient and modern food, you know?Since the Tang Dynasty, fancy tea drinking has been opened with the sencha method. "Chinese skewers were made 2000 years ago" and "fritters are related to Qin Hui" ......

Recently, 54-year-old Professor Zhang Liangren became popular on the Internet. He was originally a professor in the Department of Archaeology and Antiquities at Nanjing University, where he conducted archaeological research for 36 years. Since July this year, he has taken a short food on the short ** platform, which has successfully become popular and attracted the attention of many netizens.

He single-handedly led the fire of the relatively unpopular archaeology majorMany young people began to have a strong interest in archaeology through his short **, and even swiped the screen in the comment area "I want to apply for Professor Zhang's graduate school";Others call him China's version of "Lonely Foodie".A food blogger who jokes that he doesn't know archaeology is not a good professor.

Why did you decide to transition from an archaeology professor to "eating and broadcasting" at this age? What are the untold stories behind the short ** shooting? What changes have you made since you got out of the circle? With many doubts, the reporter of "Morning News" chatted with Zhang Liangren. Here's what he had to say:

I'm never shy about telling peopleShoot ** just to get research funding.

I am engaged in foreign archaeology, and the main research countries are Iran and Russia, but I have encountered a big problem - insufficient research funding. You may ask, why do I have to do archaeological research abroad because of the funding problem? In my opinion, our country also needs to have experts in the field of foreign archaeology, because the right to speak in this area is basically controlled by developed countries in Europe and the United States.

So, I thought of talking about archaeology in a short** way on social ** to win the support of some social forces. However, archaeology is a discipline after all and has its own professional requirements. If you follow the way of class, it will be boring and boring, and it will be difficult to attract the public, so I thought of using food to talk about archaeology.

Actually,There are still a lot of things that can be said about "food" and "archaeology". Ingredients such as chili peppers and potatoes were first foreign, while rice noodles and sauerkraut were all local. Of course, eating is not only to fill the stomach, but also a cultural behavior, so there are also sacrificial rituals and table culture.

*Note: Zhang Liangren's food is short**Although the first phase is short**Although it is only two or three minutes, a lot of effort has been put into it. There are many post-90s and post-00s in our team, and my task is to provide them with some ideas for shooting scripts, as well as to review the content of the script. I still have a lot of blind spots in my knowledge, so I have to check the literature to see if there are any mistakes and whether I have missed anything.

At present, we have filmed a total of 51 episodes of short**, that is, 51 kinds of food. The filming locations were mainly concentrated in small shops near the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University, and as far as Turpan and Xi'an. Next, we also want to expand the shooting area to Shanghai, Hangzhou and other cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, and plan to travel to other countries in the future.

*Note: Zhang Liangren took a short** work photoTo tell you the truth, I'm not suitable for short**. DoneShort** requires acting talent, rich expressions, delicate feelings, and speech talents. I don't have any of that. Of course, there is also Mandarin that is not standard and has a muddy voice. However, I made some preparations in advance and hired an announcer to teach me pronunciation and pronunciation, and I was already much better when I did a short **. We will continue to work hard and continue to improve.

At present, there is already an institution that is willing to provide financial support for archaeology abroad, which is the happiest thing for me.

In this decade,It's not uncommon for university professors to come out and make short **, we have already come out in the archaeological community to do it.

Some people will ask, is there something wrong with the transformation from a university professor to a short blogger?Indeed, my previous life was very simple, every day was a line between home, classroom, and laboratory, and all I cared about was my students and the archaeological research I was doing.

But being a short blogger was a huge change for me. I have learned to understand the preferences of most people and think about how to communicate better with them.

Of course, good results have been achieved so far. Now, I am often recognized by passers-by when I walk on the streetThis is actually a double-edged sword. On the bright side, there is more visibility and more people paying attention to archaeology; The downside is that the peaceful life is broken, and this aspect needs to be adapted.

Now when I go to class, the students laugh when they see me, and they all become big fans of mine. Classmates from other schools also came to NTU to see me, and I felt like I was chasing stars. If they like archaeology because of this, it seems to me that it would be a great thing.

My relatives and friends all know that I am a person who is not good at words, and when I saw the more exaggerated and humorous in the short **, I ran to ask me in disbelief that these short ** were really taken by me?My daughter is very supportive of me going to shoot short ** at this age, and often gives me some advice, thinking that my speaking style has changed after I have done short **, and I am much more lively and cute.

Some scholars don't do research after becoming "Internet celebrities", I don't want to do this, there are a lot of academic problems that I want to continue to research. I don't want to give up and will continue to do it, either by myself or by instructing graduate students to do it. Of course, you should also take part of your time to be short** and be a good "Internet celebrity".

After doing a short job, I found that scholars do not say that knowledge is finished after production, but that archaeological knowledge should be popularized to more people, and I am responsible for this. In addition,There are also a lot of treasures in real life that are worth excavatingThis knowledge should be taken from them and then told to more people, and it is a cyclical process.

Some people call me the Chinese version of "lonely foodie".I'm not much of a foodie, of course, but I'm also a foodie. If the maximum score is 10, I can give myself a 6 out of 10, and I'm the kind of person who likes to eat but doesn't go out of his way to find good food.

*Note: Zhang Liangren is tasting delicious food is a university question, I don't know if I don't do it, and I was shocked when I did it. I used to do research and did a lot of homework, but I found that I didn't know too much. China is so big, and there are a lot of delicacies in various places that I don't know about, so I would also like to thank the fans for giving me clues, and I hope that fans will continue to provide clues.

In the past, people's understanding of archaeology often made me laugh and cry.

As soon as someone saw us, they immediately took out the cultural relics at home for us to identify, and asked us how much we were worthIn fact, there is a special person to do the identification of cultural relics, and we don't do this; There are also some people who think that we are "tomb robbers", and that our daily life is to dig graves. In fact, we also need a license issued by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage to excavate, and everything excavated must be handed over to the state.

So,By shooting short**, you can better understand what this major does. I didn't choose archaeology as my first major at that time, because my grades were not enough to adjust to the past. In the beginning, I didn't know anything about archaeology, and the classes were like listening to books. Later, after graduating, I chose to engage in archaeological excavation and continued my studies, and I felt that I had entered the door of archaeology.

*Note: Zhang Liangren is at the archaeological siteHowever, after a few years, I suddenly found that I could not continue to do archaeology in China, and I could not write a research report. So, I decided to study abroad and open my horizons. Right now, I feel like I'm running out of energy and my mind is full of questions.

In my opinion, going abroad for archaeology is also a good way of diplomacy, because you need to deal with people up and down the local area. Diplomatic relations are like a tree, not only with a trunk, but also with roots, and our archaeology is like a root, which can stabilize a tree.

There are also many impressive things about archaeology abroad. One day, we were investigating in Iran, and when we saw a dark cloud on the mountain, we knew that it was going to rain, but the car in front told us that there was a flood in front of us, and even saw some cars washed away by the flood, so you don't look at these dry places, floods can also occur, which is very helpful for us to understand how the ancients lived in these places.

There are also many countries that make me want to come back. I've been to Russia many times, and what I miss most is ice cream, and in some Central Asian countries, shopkeepers cook pilaf in huge pots in the bazaar. They like to put sugar in black tea, but they don't add sugar to us when they have more contact with us, because they know that we Chinese don't like it.

In my opinion, archaeology is a particularly interesting subject, which can not only have a lot of fieldwork, but also see a lot of beautiful natural scenery, and at the same time organize materials and publish reports in the indoor library. I love it.

*Note: Zhang Liangren is still a relatively unpopular discipline in archaeological site archaeology, with less than 10,000 practitioners. In recent years, with the improvement of China's comprehensive strength, the investment in archaeological research has increased, and our country's multidisciplinary archaeological research has come to the forefront of the world. Underwater archaeology has also emerged, and even special underwater archaeology ships have been developed, but underwater archaeology is still very different from land excavation, and professional diving capabilities are required.

Now, at least 38 colleges and universities offer archaeology majors, which is three times more than when I was a student. With the increase in the number of applicants, the faculty has been a little insufficient, and we are now a little overwhelmed.

*Note: Zhang Liangren gives lessons to studentsArchaeology is like a "thousand-armed Kannon" that can be combined with many disciplines. For example, chemical methods are used to analyze the composition of ceramics, and modern architecture is used to study ancient architecture. Now I am leading students to study "food archaeology", to excavate more cultural relics and materials in terms of food.

Some people will ask me the question, why is there still a demand for archaeology? In my opinion, this need is not a utilitarian desire to work in archaeology, but a curiosity, and people naturally have curiosity. Shooting short** can also satisfy the curiosity of the public.

In the future, I hope that my works can be published on foreign short ** platforms, so that more people can pay attention to China's archaeology and food.

Zhang Liangren is not the first university professor to take the initiative to embrace the short ** platform, but there is no suspense that it once again attracted the attention of the whole network. Behind this, in fact, it is also a reflection on "cultural preservation heat" and "archaeological cold".

The reason why I wanted to write about Zhang Liangren came from here. When the short-term traffic swept by like a tornado, can the long-term problems faced by the archaeological industry continue to be concerned and solved?

What surprised me was that Zhang Liangren never shied away from his original intention of shooting short **, and he did not reject becoming an "Internet celebrity", because in this way, the traffic could be realized, and some social organizations would pay attention to archaeology, so as to win a sum of money to support his foreign archaeological research to continue. For him, it is not only a window for the public to be interested in archaeology, but also a tool for him to continue his archaeological research.

In the interview, he also said that after becoming popular, the number of students who want to apply for his master's and doctoral degrees has surged, but the number of students given by the college is limited.

From him, we can see that archaeology can also bring huge traffic. In this short ** era when everything can be Internet celebrities, we need more "Zhang Liangren".
