Time cognition changes lives, and three subversive views open your eyes!

Hello, I'm the owner of the fish hall, a professional reader.

Since the beginning of this year, I have started the road of free entrepreneurship, and the biggest change is actually the change in driving force.

In the past, when I went to work, what time I went to work and what time I got off work, it was all fixed, as long as you wanted to work hard in the company, you could only follow the company's arrangement.

In other words, when you go to work, it is the external forces that drive you to act.

But after freelancing, no one forces you, everything can only rely on self-control, work is on the **, if you don't do it, no one cares about you, this needs to be self-driven.

How to solve self-control, how to make yourself act?

I've learned Xi all kinds of time management techniques and all kinds of ways to plan for goals, some of which work for a while, and some of which only make me more anxious.

Eventually, I came to the conclusion that sometimes the more you learn Xi method, the more you don't want to act.

Here I would like to share an idea, sometimes to solve a problem, when the method does not work, it is likely that there is a problem with cognition.

When time management methods don't work, you don't need to keep looking for great time management methods, I started to realize this problem a few years ago, and it wasn't until I finished reading this book that I really figured it out.

This book is a new book "Four Thousand Weeks" just published last year, and it currently has a Douban score of 79, it will definitely rise to 8 in the future0 Above, the ideas in this book are particularly powerful.

Because the idea will take you to see the purpose, and the method will help you solve the problem of how to get there.

This book uses a new way of thinking to re-understand the problem of time, why I say that the cognition of the concept of time has changed, so that the problem of time management can be truly solved.

I'll talk about a case here:

For example, when you go to take the subway, you will inevitably be trampled on when there are many people, you can observe, what kind of people like to care the most?

Usually people who don't go to work and have nothing to do, you step on your aunt's foot, she can count you down for 10 minutes, on the other hand, if you are a professional person who is in a hurry to go to work, everyone can say "sorry" at most, and the matter will pass.

What's the difference here?

In addition to being open-minded, more importantly, the two types of people have different levels of attention to time.

If you realize that your time is valuable, you will take the initiative to avoid consumption and use it well.

You see, just by realizing the value of time, the way of dealing with time changes.

In addition to the value of time itself, which can help you improve your time management skills, there is also the concept conveyed in this book, the finite nature of time.

When something is limited, when you use a little less, people will also become calculating, there are nodes of things are limited, late for work, the plane is about to fly, the holiday is about to end, and so on.

These finiteness can trigger a sense of urgency.

The theme of this book is to explain the common sense that the time of a person's life is limited, and it is more intuitive.

The title of the book is "Four Thousand Weeks", which means that if you can live to be 80 years old, your life will be nothing more than 4,000 weeks.

You see, just by doing the math, it feels completely different, this year I'm 32 to 80 years old, and 50 years still feels like a lot, but when I actually change it to weeks, it's 2000 weeks.

All of a sudden, I felt that time was tight, so my time management, the shift came from two things:

1. Realize the value of time.

2. Feel the urgency of time.

With these two realizations, I don't need to do much time management, I will get up at 6 o'clock to go for a run, come back for breakfast, and then take the initiative to get to work.

Every time I go out to play, I feel that I have suffered a loss, and I usually tell them that they don't call me for general things.

For example, if a relative wants to go out and ask me to drive him off, I would rather go out and call him Didi by myself, because my cost is 1,000 yuan a day, and he goes out and asks me to deliver it, which is to save a little money, but I have a big loss.

In addition, I realized that sooner or later I will not have an effective life experience, at most more than 30 years, after the age of 60, I can't do a lot of things, and I can only spend money in a nursing home.

So I want to make more money to enrich my life experience while I am young, and after thinking like this, I will be full of energy every day.

So my efficiency comes from these two cognitive changes, not my current approach to time management.

Without reversing perceptions, no matter how good time management methods are, they won't work.

If you also feel that you are busy all year round, but when you look back, you feel that you have not done anything, and you are often immersed in anxiety about the future, or regret the past, then this book may help you to change your life.

This book "4000 Weeks" is to tell us that if you want to change, you need not a time management method, but a view of time.

So, there's a bigger question than managing your time: what are you going to do with your time?

The "view" of time is different, and the "method" will naturally be different.

This sentence is the reason why I recommend everyone to read this book.

Here are three concepts of time that need to be revisited.

The first concept of time is "the present".

We often say that we want to live in the moment, but in fact, very few people actually live in the moment.

Most people live in the future, why do you say that?

Think about how much of what you're doing now is really for the present, and most of them are doing it for the sake of getting something in the future.

For example, work hard to make money now, buy a house in the future, study hard now, and change jobs in the future.

It is very common in life to turn the present time into a bargaining chip for the future, and I believe everyone has heard such a saying, when I have money in the future, how to wait for me to be free in the future, how to and what is the result?

We took the time to achieve one goal after another, and eventually we got old, and the "later" we once said still didn't appear.

The second concept of time is "leisure".

Students can think about it, when we talk about leisure now, we are not just leisure.

Instead, I felt that I was working too hard, and I had to take a good time and come back to continue rolling.

This kind of leisure with tasks is actually very hard, because you can't really relax, but it becomes a kind of task.

Originally, it was fun to go out and have fun, but this kind of purposeful leisure has changed its taste, when you play, you have to make a film, important shots have to be recorded, the circle of friends has to beautify, and finally it has to be edited into a film.

Good entertainment and leisure have turned into a reality show, and the author says that you must restrain yourself and not spend every leisure time on such a goal as "personal improvement".

The third concept of time is "attention".

To summarize in one sentence, attention is not a resource, but your life.

I particularly agree with this statement, as there has been a debate about whether attention is a finite resource and the purpose is to do more.

I don't want to argue about whether attention is a limited resource, but I hope that everyone can look at the problem from the perspective of life.

If you realize where your attention is placed, what kind of life you will get, you will take the initiative to control the use of your attention.

For example, I never read all kinds of news gossip, so what if I know it, I eat melons with all kinds of reversals, and in the end it is my life that is wasted.

Why are we distracted?

Usually doing things, I often complain that I will be distracted, so I go to find all kinds of ** methods, how can I focus?

Here I would like to share with you one of my ideas to solve the problem, which is to look at the end in advance, rather than the means and methods.

Distraction is a problem, why can't it be distracted? What is the purpose of not being distracted? Why are people distracted?

Once these problems are figured out, you don't need so many ways to solve them yourself.

The book shares, why do people get distracted?

Our distraction and focus are only a minor problem, and the core reason is to escape.

I think it's so well said.

You don't want to do what is in front of you, so you go and look for all kinds of things that you can do to escape, leave for a while, and once you find it, you are distracted.

This explanation is too powerful, a very common case, that is, playing games, I have never seen anyone distracted by playing games, they are all distracted while reading.

Why?It's not because I don't want to study, I want to find something else to escape for a while.

It could be boredom, it could be boredom, it could be pain. We get distracted so easily because we're hoping for an excuse to get away from what we're doing.

This excuse may be the interruption of the people around you, or the push of WeChat messages, or you can't help but turn on your phone.

Sometimes, when I write an article and don't know what to write, I can't help but turn on my phone and scroll through the circle of friends for a while, which can allow me to temporarily escape the anxiety of not being able to write.

With a sense of urgency and a sense of the value of time, how do you make the most of it?

Finally, I would like to share two ideas for time management.

1. How to set the priority of things?

The book tells the story of Warren Buffett, how did he solve this problem?

Warren Buffett's approach is to start by making a list of 25 things you want to achieve in life, and then arrange time to work on the top five things in order of importance.

What about the remaining 20 things?

Do you continue to optimize with important order?

Warren Buffett replied: On the contrary, these are things that you should try to avoid at all costs.

Because these goals are not important enough to form the core of your life, but they are strong enough to prevent you from concentrating on the most important things.

Therefore, the master of time management does not do everything, but will ignore and resist.

I have a special understanding of this, and some classmates have asked me before, how to insist on 1000 days a day?

My answer was that I didn't do anything but the daily shift.

I only guarantee to complete the daily shift every day, and I don't guarantee anything else, I only do one thing every day, and it's a problem if I don't do it well, and it's normal to do it well.

There is two logics behind this:

First, our time and energy are limited, and we must learn to use them differently.

Second, you must dare to face that time is limited, so that you can let go of your illusions and do what you can with peace of mind.

I often share with my classmates, saying: It's good to have a little gain, don't expect too much.

Recognizing that time is finite is the most critical change, because even if you are more productive, you will fill your time with more things than you will really rethink it.

2. Learn to be patient.

Today, I heard from a friend that students can only focus for 15 minutes, and then they need to be constantly reminded to pull back the distracted attention.

Adults are the same, Xi to timely feedback information, sometimes send a WeChat, the other party does not see the reply, the heart is anxious.

But in life, many competitive things require patience, in fact, concentration is also a kind of patience, you have the patience to slowly pay attention to the things themselves, in order to slowly start to focus into the flow state.

How do you get your patience back?

It's the phrase I often say, "Take your time", and when you are not in a hurry, patience will appear.

For example, when it comes to running, I have very low requirements for myself, as long as I can go downstairs and walk one lap every day, it doesn't matter if I run slowly, the point is to start running and keep running.

It's about being patient with running changes, and I'm able to run 5 kilometers a day, but I don't drain myself all at once, but save a little energy.

This will give me a sense of control, I still have the energy to spare, I won't be afraid of difficulties, and I won't feel like running every day is so hard.

If you want to cultivate patience, you must overcome greed, run without asking how good it is, read without memorizing, and write without seeking to be a hit right away.

This will avoid being impatient and anxious to do things, which will make it easier to persevere.
