On December 26, 2023, Toutiao's "Real Person Interview" account published an article reporting on Liu Jiayu, a 2010 alumnus of our school's hotel management major, who advanced in the workplace after graduating from Gingko College.
In 2020, Liu Jiayu returned to her alma mater and spoke as a representative of outstanding alumni at the orientation party. Her positive, sunny and cheerful spirit of struggle and inspirational stories infected the teachers and students present.
On November 10, 2020, the official Weibo once told Liu Jiayu's mental journey to Ginkgo students with the title of "What the Heart Wants, Nothing Can't Be Done". Now, when we happened to see this foreign media report, we are still moved by her story, so we specially excerpt ** and share this "inspiring life" with you.
The English guest yelled angrily at me and told me that he was going to complain about me, and asked me if I looked down on himThen he threw a wad of money in front of me. I was scared and cried at the time, and all my colleagues came to comfort me, and my superiors also helped me deal with the complaint ......
This is a particularly aggrieved and embarrassing thing I encountered when I first came to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai as a front-line housekeeper after graduation.
Liu Jiayu, the representative of the outstanding alumni of the 2010 class of hotel management.
I am Liu Jiayu, born in the 90s, graduated from Chengdu Ginkgo Hotel Management College, majoring in hotel management, is a Hunan girl, and her hometown is in Huaihua, Hunan. Adler said, "Happy people spend their childhood ** for a lifetime, and unhappy people use ** for a lifetime ** childhood." "In a happy family of origin, I developed a sunny and smiling character.
Liu Jiayu. In the year of the college entrance examination, my mother suggested that I apply for a major in hotel management after a comprehensive analysis of my personality and strengths. I also thought it was very good, so I came to Chengdu Ginkgo Hotel Management College, the best hotel management school in China at that time.
In college, I met a very important friend in my life, Rita, and since then the gears of my fate have been turning, Rita is majoring in English, and I am studying hotel management.
The School of Foreign Chinese often has some external programs. In the fall of 2012, they were in a program to do an exchange internship at a hotel in Phuket, Thailand, which was a particularly well-known Swiss brand that only accepted one person.

Rita said let me go and see it, but I felt that my English was very bad and I didn't want to go, so I couldn't help but agree to it. At that time, I thought that since I had gone to all the places, I would make some preparations by the way, so I memorized the English self-introduction many times.
There were more than 20 people in the interview, and I remember trying very hard to memorize the English self-introduction, and I couldn't understand most of the questions asked by the interviewer, so I could only barely guess the answers.
Regardless of the strength, at least I wanted myself not to lose in form, so I kept a very standard signature smile throughout.
The results of the interview came out, and Rita was successfully accepted. And I was also impressed by the interviewer because of the smile I had during the interview. They also needed a Chinese intern, and the interviewer recommended me.
As a result, I was lucky enough to be admitted to another five-star hotel, which confirmed that sentence"Girls who love to laugh are not too lucky".
As an outstanding alumnus, Liu Jiayu was invited to return to school to participate in the orientation party.
Going to Thailand for an internship was the first time in my life to go abroad, and there were still many obstacles to communication with my colleagues at the beginning, but I was more touched by the fact that they were very patient with me and helped me a lot. Slowly, I got used to the working environment here, and I was able to work very easily.
When I graduated from my senior year, many hotels came to our school to choose people, and I had already interviewed for a hotel in Shenzhen. By chance, I attended an interview with Rita for the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and was successfully accepted.
In 2014, Liu Jiayu took a photo in front of the Burj Al Arab.
When the dream came true, I was pleasantly surprised that Lady Luck had once again favored me.
As the world's first seven-star hotel, Burj Al Arab lives up to its name! The hotel is extremely luxurious, with a total cost of $1.5 billion, which equates to about $10 million per floor, and there are 28 floors in total.
Burj Al Arab rooms.
At the beginning of the work, due to lack of experience, there were also some embarrassing episodes. However, with this experience, I have also grown a lot, and I understand how to deal better with high-end customers, and I will do more details in place.
Service with a smile. I have always been strict with myself at work, and I treat every guest with a 100% serious and responsible attitude.
I thought that it was a big surprise in my life to be able to work at the Burj Al Arab, but I didn't expect that there would be an even bigger surprise waiting for me in my life.
I am very happy working at Burj Al Arab, and my original plan was to work in the hotel industry, from front-line housekeeper to reservations, and then work my way up. Until one day I hosted a veteran flight attendant from Qatar Airways.

The veteran flight attendant left the hotel to express his gratitude to me, then encouraged me to participate in their company's audition in Dubai, saying, "Bless you, lovely Chinese girl." ”
It just so happened that my two-year contract with sailing was about to expire, so I went to the audition interview for Qatar Airlines that month. With a working background in Burj Al Arab, coupled with fluent English, I successfully passed the interview.
When I told my family that I was going to Qatar, all my relatives and friends were against it because they didn't think it was safe to do it.
My parents chose to be on my side, they said that as long as I was happy and brave to move forward, they said that they believed that I had always been a lucky person and that there was no need to worry about that.

Standing at the crossroads of career choices, I also asked myself, if I choose to continue to work in the hospitality industry, I will definitely develop better and more steadily. After thinking about it seriously, I plan to sign a three-year contract with Qatar Airlines, and take advantage of my youth now to go out to see the outside world more. My parents were supportive, so I decided to leave Burj Al Arab and join Kahang.

In my work, I always come across stories that particularly move me.
Once, an old American grandfather, every time I passed by him, he always smiled and said thank you to me, but to my strange feeling, every time I talked to him, he had to repeat it several times to understand clearly, and then kept saying "sorry".
At the time, I was thinking that maybe he didn't have a good ear. When I chatted with him later, I learned that he had experienced a particularly big traffic accident a while ago and had undergone a brain operation, so his reaction would be relatively slow. He also showed me the big surgical scar on his head.
I also saw VolunteersIn Medical Missions on his T-shirt and asked him, "Are you a MSF volunteer?""Yes, this is the 18th country I'm going to volunteer in after I got injured," he said. ”
After listening to the old man's words, I was almost moved to tears on the spot. I hurriedly reported his matter to the superiors, and then our crew sent a love cake to the old man and took a photo with him. He was very happy and said that it was the first time he had received such a surprise after decades of flying on a plane.
Just like when I worked at Burj Al Arab, I worked hard at Qatar Airlines, and I also set a record of zero leave in three years.
In fact, all walks of life are the same, it is not easy, you have to love to do one line.
After three years of flying, I went to more than 40 countries, New York's Times Square, Africa, Sri Lanka, and Northern Europe to see the Northern Lights ......I have experienced different landscapes around the world and realized the richness and diversity of the world.
I am especially grateful to Qatar Airways for such a wonderful experience.
At the end of my three-year contract, I officially left Qatar Airlines in November 2018.
Once, Rita invited me to dine at one of Dubai's most famous Chinese restaurants, the owner of which was a friend of hers, and the Chinese restaurant was short of a restaurant manager.
My friend half-jokingly said, "Didn't you quit?"Why don't you try it here? It's also a return to your old business. I was really impressed, this restaurant is very well-known, and I can definitely learn a lot.
In January 2019, I officially became the restaurant manager of this restaurant. I began to learn management, do training, develop markets, plan activities, and lead teams to ......I am very busy every day, and I dare not turn off the ...... 24 hours a day
After working in a Chinese restaurant for almost a year, I felt less and less joyful about work. Here, the wages are really high, but there is also a lot of pressure. I began to calm down and think about what kind of life I wanted to liveIn the middle, I also communicated with my parents about my real thoughts. This time, I decided to resign and go back to China.
After returning to China, the owner of the Chinese restaurant affiliated group that had worked in Dubai before contacted me several times and asked me to come over to help, but I was very enthusiastic, and my boyfriend also wanted to go to Dubai to find new opportunities, so in November 2022, we returned to work in Dubai.
Currently, I am working in Dubai as Assistant to the Chairman and Director of Executive Personnel, which is a lot to learn, but a lot of my previous work experience will come in handy.
I am now more mature and stable than before, I know exactly what I want, and I will do my best to achieve my goals when I set them.
Friends and girlfriends have come to Dubai for work.
Looking back, I left Ginkgo, walked out of Hunan, and came to Dubai, from an ordinary front-line housekeeper to the assistant to the chairman of the current group.
I think I am very ordinary, with ordinary appearance, ordinary family, and ordinary education, and I have come to this point step by step.
Standing at 30+ today, I also summed up myself, I wondered if my luck was really good, and then I thought about it carefully, more often than not, it is inseparable from my dead spirit and courage to rush forward, just like that sentence said"Every little thing you work on will make a difference every day in the future."
Actually,The potential in each of us is infinite, and the brave people enjoy the world firstSometimes you may just lack the courage to try. Hopefully, my story gives you a little strength.
