At 0:10 on February 18, 1995, the Jiangnan Police Station of the Jiangnan New District Bureau of the Jinhua City Public Security Bureau received a report from Xu, a resident of Room 3xx, Unit 2, Building 31, Nanyuan East, Jiangnan New District, who lived in Room 4xx upstairs of him, that red liquid continued to leak into his home through the cracks in his ceiling, and he suspected that something had happened to Hu Xianqin's family. As a result, the police on duty at the Jiangnan Police Station immediately rushed to the scene with two members of the public security joint defense team, broke down the door after repeatedly knocking on the door, and then witnessed a scene that stunned them: a total of five people, including the head of the household, Hu Xianqin (then 23 years old, originally from Tangxian Town, Yongkang County), were killed.
The frightened police on duty immediately ordered everyone to withdraw from the room to protect the scene, and then ran all the way back to the police station to report the case to the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Jiangnan New District Bureau and the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Jinhua City Public Security Bureau. After receiving the report, investigators, technicians, and forensic doctors from the criminal investigation organs at the city bureau and sub-bureau levels rushed to the scene.
The scene is a two-bedroom suite, and the identities of the five deceased in the room are verified by the other four deceased after investigation and visits
Du Weidong (male), a 29-year-old employee of Jinhua Elevator Factory who was suspended from work without pay.
Chen Wei (male), a 29-year-old employee of the Jinhua County Epidemic Prevention Station, was suspended from work at the time.
Jin Yuqiong (female), a 24-year-old native of Dongxiao Township, Jinhua District, temporarily lived at No. 20 Nanyuan Road, Jiangnan.
Cai Yajing (female), a 20-year-old native of Yuandong Township, Jinhua County, temporarily lived in Room 1xx, Unit 3, Building 1, Nanyuan New Village.
After forensic examination, except for Du Weidong, the other four of the five deceased were ** and gagged. Among them, Hu Xianqin and Cai Yajing also had power cords of household appliances strangled around their necks, and the direct cause of death of the two was mechanical suffocation caused by the power cord strangling their necks; The immediate cause of death for Jin Yuqiong was believed to be mechanical asphyxia caused by pinching her neck; The medical examiner collected three male body fluid samples showing different blood types from the lower bodies of the three female deceased, who had been unlawfully assaulted by criminals before their deaths. The direct cause of death of Chen Wei and Du Weidong was hemopneumothorax caused by being stabbed in the chest with a sharp object, and the time of death of the five was around 22:00 on February 17.
The scene was extremely turbulent, the jewelry, wallets and BP machines on the five victims were gone, and the ground at the scene was splashed with water, and the furniture handles had traces of wiping, indicating that the scene was damaged and the criminals had strong anti-investigation capabilities.
Five people were killed at once, which was an extraordinarily large phenomenon that had never happened since the liberation of Jinhua, and it suddenly caused great panic in the urban area of Jinhua City, and alarmed the Jinhua Municipal Party Committee and even the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Province. The Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Jinhua Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Jiangnan Branch dispatched capable police forces to form a special case team to handle the case with the technical support of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department.
According to the results of the on-site investigation, the task force made the following preliminary analysis:
1. The time of the incident was between 21:00 and 24:00 on February 17;
2. The motive for committing the crime is a mixed motive of financial killing, love killing, and vendetta killing;
3. The offender shall be three or more persons, at least one of whom has been to the scene and has known at least one of the five victims;
4. The age of the criminal should be between 18 and 35 years old, and he or she should have a criminal record and the conditions for committing crimes in a group.
Based on the above analysis, the special case group organized forces to comprehensively carry out investigation and population inventory work, focusing on the scene and the five victims, and continued to repeatedly analyze and study the original motives of the criminals.
The five deceased came from five completely different families and had a very complex relationship. It is understood that the three female deceased have a chaotic style on weekdays, especially Hu Xianqin, who was sentenced to three years in prison for robbery in 1989, and has been living in Jinhua since his release from prison in 1992. In terms of dealing with people, Hu Xianqin often spends generously, showing that he is "very rich", giving people the impression of "big money". At the same time, it is understood that Du Weidong, Chen Wei, Jin Yuqiong, Cai Yajing and Hu Xianqin have not known each other for a long time, and the economic situation is not good, and they basically rely on Hu Xianqin to live. Therefore, the task force judged that the criminals came directly for Hu Xianqin's money, and the other four were completely in trouble.
Combined with the results of the on-site investigation, the task force portrayed the criminals: at least one criminal had been to the scene; The methods of committing crimes are very sophisticated, and they have experience in evading crackdowns, and should have a bad record of burglary, theft and hooliganism; There is no legitimate economic income, and there is an urgent need for money.
From February 18 to March 8, the special case team conducted an investigation of the dance halls and other entertainment venues that the deceased had visited, focusing on the relationship with the victim, and found a total of 340 direct and 124 indirect relatives of the deceased; At the same time, the criminal files and materials accumulated in Jinhua City over the years were compared, and a total of more than 66,500 suspect fingerprint files and 338 suspect files were consulted. However, there were no valuable discoveries during this time.
On February 23, the Jiangbei Branch obtained an important clue through special circumstances, ** released Zhang Moumou and other three people had been working in Jinhua, but in the early morning of February 18, they suddenly returned to their hometown in Weifang, and when they left, they said that they had killed someone in Jinhua, so they went back to their hometown to hide. The special case group attached great importance to this, and while organizing forces to conduct further verification and comparing fingerprint files, it sent 11 police officers to Weifang, Shandong Province to arrest them, and at the same time quickly reported the situation to the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department and the Weifang City Public Security Bureau to request cooperation, and the criminal investigation detachment of the Weifang City Public Security Bureau immediately mobilized capable police forces to control the villages and towns where Zhang Moumou was originally from, and successfully arrested Zhang Moumou and the three before the arrest team arrived in Weifang on February 19. However, after a sudden trial, Zhang Moumou and the other three committed another ** case, which has nothing to do with this case.
On March 8, the special case group held a second case analysis meeting, holding that the direction of the investigation in the previous stage was correct, and that the original motive of the criminals was to make money, and they went straight to the homeowner, Hu Xianqin, to kill people in order to extinguish their mouths. Based on this, the special case group decided to focus on Hu Xianqin, adjusted its strength, and divided it into six groups for investigation.
The first group was responsible for digging deep into Hu Xianqin's direct and indirect associates, and continued to conduct a comprehensive review of more than 30 entertainment venues in the city, from which suspects were discovered.
The second group went to Tang Xian Town, Yongkang, Hu Xianqin's hometown, and investigated more than 20 people in Hu Xianqin's social relations in his hometown.
The third group went to Jiangtang Town, where Hu Xianqin used to be, and sorted out more than 200 "labor friends" who had been with Hu Xianqin.
The fourth group was responsible for investigating Hu Xianqin's social connections in Jinhua and those suspected of committing crimes in a gang, and a total of 22 key suspects were investigated, and a key investigation was carried out on people from Fuqing in Fujian Province who were seriously suspected.
The fifth group is responsible for the inventory of the people around the scene, giving priority to the people living in the buildings around the scene of the crime and those who had close contacts with the deceased.
In key areas such as Jiangbei, Jinhua, and Yongkang, the sixth group focused on the main line of robbery and investigated illegal and criminal gangs such as extortion and theft in order to discover new clues.
On March 21, the fourth group of investigators who went to Fuqing County, Fujian Province to conduct an investigation, reported a clue: A related person of Fujian nationality reported that when he was having dinner at Cai Yajing's place, he had met a northwesterner who called himself "Xiao Zhang" and knew Song Moumou, a member of a certain gang. The task force summoned Song Moumou on March 24, and through patient and meticulous ideological education, Song Moumou confessed that the Northwest man who called himself "Xiao Zhang" had relatives in Jinhua, and that this person had been to Hu Xianqin's residence and proposed to Hu Xianqin to do a drug trafficking business together, but Hu Xianqin refused.
The task force then conducted an in-depth investigation into this "Xiao Zhang," and found out that "Xiao Zhang's" real name was He Jianguo, who was 32 years old at the time, an employee of the railway department of Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, who was forced to undergo drug rehabilitation by the Jiayuguan City Public Security Bureau in November 1993 because of drug abuse, and came to Jinhua twice in 1994 to live at a relative's house in Jinhua. On the afternoon of February 17, 1995, four more young men from the northwest suddenly stayed at He Jianguo's relative's house in Jinhua. On February 19, while staying at a relative's house in Hangzhou, He Jianguo drunkenly boasted that he had killed people in Jinhua.
The above indications show that He Jianguo and his accomplices are suspected of committing major crimes.
On 25 March, the special case group resolutely withdrew the five fingers that had stretched out, clenched them into a fist, and concentrated its efforts on controlling and investigating He Jianguo and his accomplices. At the same time, six capable police officers from the Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department, the Jinhua City Public Security Bureau, and the Jiangnan Branch were dispatched to form a pursuit team, and they flew north to Jiayuguan overnight, and with the assistance of the Jiayuguan City Public Security Bureau, they quickly ascertained the circumstances of He Jianguo and his accomplices' arrival in Jinhua. According to the feedback from the group that went to Jiayuguan, the special case group promptly dispatched forces to carry out 24-hour monitoring and control of the residences of He Jianguo's relatives and friends in Jinhua and Hangzhou, as well as the stations in Hangzhou, Jinhua, Yiwu, and Jiangshan where He Jianguo might get off the train, and weaved a large net to capture He Jianguo and others.
On the morning of 5 April, investigators squatting near He Jianguo's relatives in Hangzhou received a tip-off that He Jianguo and his accomplice Tong Hongjiang had appeared at the Hangzhou Railway Station. The Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department, which was close to the water, immediately mobilized 50 police forces to quickly attack and conduct searches at Hangzhou Station and other places, and as a result, at around 10 o'clock, it successfully blocked and captured He Jianguo and Tong Hongjiang in front of He Jianguo's relative's house in Hangzhou (which was next to Hangzhou Station).

After a sudden interrogation on the spot, He Jianguo and Tong Hongjiang confessed to the fact that the two of them, together with fellow villager Chen Jianming, killed five people in Room 4xx, Unit 2, Building 31, Nanyuan East, Jiangnan New District, Jinhua.
On the afternoon of February 17, Tong Hongjiang, Chen Jianming and other four people came to Jinhua to find He Jianguo, and He Jianguo proposed to rob Hu Xianqin's house where he had been, because Hu Xianqin looked very rich. Originally, five people committed the crime together, but unexpectedly, two people were so drunk because of excessive drinking that they were forced to stay in the guest house to rest. So, He Jianguo, Tong Hongjiang and Chen Jianming broke into Room 4xx, Unit 2, Building 31, Nanyuan East, Jiangnan New District, at 21 o'clock that night, and after entering the room, the three showed sharp knives ** Hu Xianqin, Jin Yuqiong, Cai Yajing and Chen Wei in the room, three women and one man, coerced them to hand over the money and gagged their hands and feet, ransacked the valuables in the room and violated the three women. During this period, the victim Du Weidong came to the scene at the invitation of Hu Xianqin before, and as soon as he knocked on the door and entered the house, he was stabbed to death by He Jianguo and three others.
After the robbery was completed, He Jianguo, Tong Hongjiang and Chen Jianming, in order to extinguish their mouths, frantically strangled Hu Xianqin and Cai Yajing with wires, strangled Jin Yuqiong, and stabbed Chen Wei to death with a knife. He then vandalized the scene by throwing water on the ground and wiping it with a rag before fleeing the scene.
At the same time, Chen Jianming and two other accomplices were arrested in Jiayuguan. At 0:00 on April 5, He Jianguo, Tong Hongjiang, Chen Jianming, and others were escorted back to Jinhua from Hangzhou and Jiayuguan respectively, and in the subsequent sudden interrogation, several people not only admitted the facts of their crimes in the extraordinarily large burglary and murder case in Room 4xx, Unit 2, Building 31, Nanyuan East, Jiangnan New District, on February 17, but also admitted two burglary cases that occurred in Hangzhou on February 18, and a burglary and murder case that occurred in Lanzhou on February 11, which resulted in the death of a couple.
So far, this case, known as the "first case in Jiangnan", has been solved. He Jianguo, Tong Hongjiang, Chen Jianming and other five criminals were arrested by the Jinhua Municipal People's Procuratorate for robbery and homicide.
