On February 25, the Singapore Airshow 2022 came to an end. At this year's air show, China's self-developed large passenger aircraft C919 appeared in a rather embarrassing situation - except for domestic orders, almost no new international orders were obtained. This result surprised many experts and shows that the C919 still needs to make continuous efforts to open up the international market.
In fact, since its first flight in 2016, the C919 has been a huge success in the domestic market, with multiple airlines ordering more than 1,000 aircraft. However, at the Singapore Airshow, it appeared shy and reserved, in sharp contrast to airline giants such as Airbus and Boeing. C919 is not highly accepted in the international market for the following reasons:
First of all, the overall technical level needs to be improved. Although the technical indicators have reached the international advanced level, as a newly developed model, the overall system integration and optimization of C919 still takes time. Extensive flight testing is still needed to refine its performance.
Secondly, the product maturity is insufficient. It is inevitable that the newly developed aircraft will have some "technical diseases", and it is necessary to discover and solve problems one after another in actual flights. The C919 also needs more flight time to accumulate data to ensure the safety and reliability of its systems.
Third, the international reputation is not high. Compared with the influence of brands such as Airbus and Boeing, consumers and airlines are still relatively unfamiliar with the C919. There was also a lack of strong marketing at the show.
Nevertheless, we should also fully realize that the C919 represents a major technological breakthrough in the field of China's large aircraft development, and lays the foundation for further independent development of large aircraft in the future. We have full confidence and strength to build the C919 into a world-class civil airliner through continuous improvement and optimization.
To this end, we need to take the following measures: First, increase flight testing efforts and strive to obtain European and American certification as soon as possible. Secondly, select friendly countries for trial operation to build up reputation. Third, increase marketing efforts to increase international visibility and transparency. Fourth, continuously reduce product operating costs. We firmly believe that through persistent efforts, the C919 will surely show its brilliance in the international aviation market.
Although there are some regrets at this air show, we should not be discouraged. China's civil aircraft industry is still in the growth stage and needs to continue to accumulate experience.
We expect that domestic large aircraft can continue to draw innovative power from practice, and move towards the world stage at a steady pace. Let us continue to strive for the great leap of Made in China from "China speed" to "China quality", from "made in China" to "created in China"!
