Russia missed the Singapore Airshow, and the defense deal was clumsy

According to Reuters, at the recent Singapore Airshow, many new ** systems were unveiled for the first time, which attracted widespread attention. In particular, those air defense systems that can destroy ballistic missiles and shoot down UAVs are receiving great attention. Surprisingly, however, no Russian companies were seen at the show, and there were hardly any major defense deals.

According to reports, unlike in previous years, Russian companies did not show their products. This is mainly due to the impact of international sanctions, and Russia's military ** business has been greatly dragged down. Moreover, due to the problems in the ** chain caused by the conflict in Russia and Ukraine, defense ** companies from Western countries see an opportunity to cooperate with some Asian users who use Russian equipment. In Southeast Asia, including countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, some of them still use vintage Russian-made or Soviet-made equipment, sometimes in combination.

Although several commercial deals were announced at this air show, there were very few in terms of defense deals. It has also cast doubt on some observers' position in the Asian market. Some experts believe that Russia's military business in the Asian region is being squeezed by more and more competitors, especially from Western countries.

In addition, the report notes that some Asian countries have some concerns about the safety of using Russian equipment. Although some users are satisfied with the performance of Russian products, they are also concerned that if they sign a contract with Russia, they may be affected by sanctions from Western countries.

Overall, the defense deal at the Singapore Airshow was not as lucrative as one might expect. Russia's absence and lack of major deals have made the entire airshow seem a bit deserted. However, as an important player in the Asian region and the global military** market, Russia will continue to seek new opportunities and ways to expand its business to meet the challenges posed by competition and sanctions.
