Lhasa, January 10 (Xinhua) -- Born in 1980, Basang is a "caring mother" at the Second Children's Welfare Hospital in Shigatse, and since 2005, she has raised nearly 20 children from all over Shigatse. Today, her loving family has 13 children, the oldest of whom is 15 years old and the youngest is only one and a half years old, still babbling.

There are 8 such loving families in the Second Child Welfare Hospital of Shigatse City, with an average of 14 children per family. The reporter learned that there are two "caring mothers" in every family here, and the "caring mother" who manages the "happy family" with Basang is Tenzin Zhuoma, a "post-90s" Tibetan girl who has just worked for 5 years. At the same age as a flower, the first thing she learned at work was how to raise children.

December 1 of the Tibetan calendar (January 12 of the Gregorian calendar) is the traditional farmer's New Year in the Shigatse area. This year's Farmer's New Year is coming, and on January 8, the caring families of the Second Welfare Hospital ushered in one of the most solemn ceremonies before the New Year - eating cake. The children sat together, the caring mother slipped a piece of cake for each child, and some children even spread cream on each other's faces.

After eating the cake, the children ushered in the "Spring Festival Party". To this end, they have prepared various programs to show their talents.

As performers, they sing loudly and dance confidently; As spectators, they cheered enthusiastically and applauded. Some girls took out their favorite dresses and showed their most beautiful side at the party. Rather than offering flowers to the performers on stage, offering Hada is their unique expression. The show is not over yet, and the performers have long been "drowned" by Hada.

From the preliminary preparation to the performance on stage, every song and dance is an expression of their love for life. Although the characters at the party are different, their eyes reveal the joy of happiness and hope for the future.

Today, the people's livelihood security project (referred to as "double concentration") has been realized with "100% centralized support for willing five guarantee objects in institutions above the county level, and 100% centralized adoption of orphans in institutions above the prefecture-level city". As of the end of December 2023, there are 3,772 orphans in the district, all of whom have been adopted in a centralized manner.

Driven by the "Double Concentration" livelihood project, the Second Child Welfare Hospital of Shigatse City was established in 2015 and mainly accepts orphaned and disabled children and abandoned babies in 18 counties (districts) of Shigatse City. At present, a total of 358 orphaned and disabled children (including 74 in foster care) have been adopted in the hospital.
