The new Porsche Taycan will be launched in the spring of 2024, and the Porsche development team is currently conducting intensive final tests of the new Taycan Sports Coupe and Taycan Cross Turismo, which have been tested for nearly 3.6 million kilometers on off-road test tracks, tracks and roads around the world, and have overcome a variety of extreme weather conditions. From Death Valley in California, USA, where the temperature is 53 degrees Celsius, to the Arctic Circle in Finland, where the temperature is only -41 degrees Celsius.
After early computer simulations and validation, the new Porsche Taycan is now being tested on the track and on the road in a real car. Kevin Giek, Vice President of the Taycan Product Line, said: "We've improved the all-new Taycan with a faster, better and longer range. The changes are so magnitude that the new Taycan can be tested as hard as a brand new car. The Taycan sports coupe and the Taycan Cross Turismo with an optional off-road package are two upcoming Taycan models that have been significantly upgraded.
Of the 3.6 million kilometres of testing of the new Porsche Taycan, 300,000 kilometres were completed in cold climates and 200,000 kilometres in hot regions. At a test site about 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in Finland, the new Taycan not only demonstrates excellent driving dynamics on snow and ice, but also takes only half the charging time at extremely low temperatures, demonstrating that the Taycan is capable of overcoming the challenges of extreme climates.
At the other end of the extreme climate, in California's Death Valley, the new Porsche Taycan has undergone rigorous heat endurance tests. In addition to various performance tests, the Porsche development team also tested the reliability of the battery charging system and thermal management system of the new Taycan under such severe climatic conditions.
Florian Stahl, Head of Product Testing at Taycan, says: "Porsche's electric vehicles have to undergo the same rigorous testing program as their gasoline-powered sports cars. In addition to excellent performance, it is more important to maintain daily availability in all climatic conditions. When the all-new Porsche Taycan goes on sale in a few months' time, the fully upgraded Taycan will have been thoroughly tested across 17 countries at -41 degrees Celsius to 53 degrees Celsius. 」
