In 2004, the first basic research monograph on propolis in China, "Research on the Pharmacological Effects of Propolis", was published, and in 2019, the academic monograph "Propolis Research", which has the highest academic level at home and abroad, was published. On the basis of exploring the differential components and biotransformation mechanism of propolis and poplar gum, a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) identification method for propolis and poplar gum based on salicin and catechol and a qualitative propolis quality evaluation method based on multi-index component quantification combined with fingerprint were established, and the national and industry standards for the identification of propolis authenticity and the detection of iconic components were formulated, which solved the technical problems that have plagued the propolis industry for a long time, and provided technical support for purifying the propolis market and cracking down on counterfeit and shoddy propolis. High-tech technologies such as nanotechnology, microencapsulation technology and enzymatic hydrolysis technology are applied to the deep processing of propolis, which improves the added value and bioavailability of propolis products.
Secondly, the quality control of royal jelly, especially the freshness index and evaluation method, was systematically studied, and a number of new freshness (quality) evaluation technologies were established from micro to macro, from qualitative, semi-quantitative to quantitative, and relevant evaluation indicators and thresholds were proposed, which provided a theoretical basis and technical means for the scientific evaluation of the freshness (quality) of royal jelly. For the purpose of high-quality and efficient production and quality and safety evaluation of royal jelly, a high-quality and high-efficiency production system of royal jelly has been established to control the quality of royal jelly from the source.
In addition, the antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-diabetic, pro-traumatic repair effects and molecular mechanisms of propolis and its active ingredients, and the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-aging effects and molecular mechanisms of royal jelly and its active ingredients have been deeply studied, and new progress has been made, which provides a theoretical basis and technical support for the development and utilization of propolis and royal jelly.

In terms of socialized services, he presided over the construction of Hangzhou Bee Industry Science and Technology Innovation Service Platform, presided over the completion of a number of major projects in cooperation with enterprises, developed a number of new technologies and new products, and achieved significant social and economic benefits.
