This reference design uses a TPS7H5001-SP pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller and three TPS7H6003-SP half-bridge drivers to control a hard-switched full-bridge converter that accepts inputs from 22V to 36V and generates an isolated 5V output capable of withstanding a 100W load. The controllers, drivers, and power FETs selected are all qualified for geostationary orbit (GEO) level radiated performance. Synchronous rectifiers on the secondary side provide improved efficiency and thermal performance compared to conventional diode rectifiers.
