On the afternoon of February 15, 2024, it was rumored on the Internet that "Ocean Flower Island rents a house for 10 days and costs 20,000 yuan, and the toilet must be cleaned when you check out" aroused social concern. The Danzhou Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development quickly launched a joint investigation with public security, comprehensive law enforcement, market supervision and management and other departments.
After investigation, on February 2, 2024, the renter Wang signed the "Housing Lease Contract" with an employee of an intermediary company (landlord's entrusting party) to rent Villa No. 105 (4 rooms, construction area of 280 square meters) in Building 240 of Palm Garden on Island 3 of Ocean Flower Island, with a lease period of 30 days, a rent of 20,000 yuan, and a deposit of 5,000 yuan. The parties agreed in the contract that the tenant must do a good job of cleaning the house before quitting the lease, and if the contract is terminated early, the rent will not be refunded as compensation to the lessor.
Wang checked in on February 2 and applied for early check-out on February 15, and the two parties had a dispute over the housing hygiene standards and were coordinated by the relevant departments, and the intermediary company had refunded the deposit of 5,000 yuan on the same day and was responsible for the follow-up health matters.
In view of the bad experience and other circumstances brought by this incident to tourists, in order to standardize the market operation behavior, the Danzhou Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has interviewed the person in charge of the intermediary company and issued a "Notice of Correction", urging it to seriously rectify, improve the service level, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of tourists.
