In 1992, I joined the public security organs to engage in public security joint defense work, and at that time I was called a member of the public security joint defense team, which is equivalent to the current auxiliary police. One day in November 1993, while patrolling, my colleagues and I captured Cheng, a fugitive wanted by the Ministry of Public Security on suspicion of theft. After Cheng was handed over to the Shangqiu Railway Public Security Bureau, I wrote a press release of more than 300 words overnight. Not long after, when I was flipping through the "People's Public Security Daily", I found my name in the "Local News" column in the second half of the second edition. I excitedly took the newspaper to report to the then director, and my colleagues called me "Reporter Zhang". My main job has also shifted from security patrol to internal office. Since then, I have had the habit of reading the People's Public Security Daily and actively writing and submitting articles.
At the beginning, I would actively write articles for large and small cases handled by the unit and submit them to the editorial department of the "People's Public Security Daily". The postman usually delivers the newspaper to the unit at 10:30 in the morning, and in order to see the newspaper as soon as possible, I will wait in the communication room early, and then eagerly take the "People's Public Security Daily" to check whether there is a manuscript I wrote to see the newspaper. When I find out that a manuscript has been adopted, I will be excited all morning.
Looking back on the experience of writing manuscripts, at the beginning, the acceptance rate of my manuscript was very low, but it still couldn't stop my enthusiasm for writing. Until 2007, my manuscript was regularly published every Wednesday in the weekly journal of Public Security Management Weekly, and the adoption rate was getting higher and higher. From 2008 to 2018, more than 20 of my manuscripts were adopted by the People's Public Security Daily every year, so I was also praised by the municipal and county public security organs.
Through years of unremitting reading, writing, and study, the People's Public Security Daily has entered my heart and left a deep imprint. I have changed from an energetic and enthusiastic young man to a veteran correspondent over 50 years old, and my enthusiasm for the "People's Public Security Daily" has not diminished in the slightest, and some of the editors have become my mentors and friends.
