Recently, Omy hired creative studio Wedge to develop a visual system and design refillable packaging.
Justin Lortie, co-founder and chief design officer of Wedge, said, "We met OMY at a pivotal time in its planned expansion into North America and Europe. "It's time for Omi to level up. To support business ambitions, Wedge was asked to undertake a brand evolution to strategically and visually articulate who it is – defining a strong brand strategy and consumer-facing narrative, a new brand identity, brand voice and packaging system, including formal direction as part of the brand identity. ”
The new text markup is very complex, using a bold sans-serif font and placing "lab" or "lab" in the superscript. The serif font balances the main font and adds elegance to the visual identity. In addition, a color system was created to indicate the different features of each product, such as "ultra-soothing", "multi-effect", "ultra-moisturizing", and other skincare-related features. The color system is easy to understand, and each function is accompanied by a number.
The color system is set to a white background to make the features on the packaging stand out more. Each personalized serum and cream replaces the "lab" next to Omy with the customer's name.
Omy Laboratories is a certified public benefit enterprise, and Wedge has created a fully refillable system. The plastic refill is placed inside a glass bottle and dispensed through a pump, which is also available** as it does not contain metal springs.
Wedge's brand renewal elevates Omy Laboratories' image, and the personalized packaging creates a strong bond between the brand and its customers. The refillable system is innovative, and while it's not plastic-free, it's completely remarkable, which is a step forward considering the amount of plastic waste in the beauty and personal care category.
