At the end of the book review, I picked up another masterpiece by Mr. Liu Heng "Fuxi Fuxi", which was later put on the big screen by director Zhang Yimou and renamed "Ju Dou". Back then, in 1990, "Ju Dou" was screened abroad and became the first Chinese film to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and the Palme d'Or, but it was banned in China for 25 years because of its sensitive content and bold and straightforward performance.

Compared with the market atmosphere of "Poor Zhang Damin", I think the depth and historical span of "Fuxi Fuxi" are better. However, the reputation of "Fuxi Fuxi" does not seem to be as loud as "Poor Zhang Damin", and many people may not know that the original work of "Ju Dou" was made by Mr. Liu Heng.

In my opinion, the work "Fuxi Fuxi", which brings us historical reflection and exploration of human nature, is no less than Mr. Chen Zhongzhong's "White Deer Plain". Although "White Deer Plain" has a longer historical span and more characters, "Fuxi Fuxi" mainly revolves around a family surnamed Yang in a remote village, telling the emotional entanglement, love and hatred between the owner Yang Jinshan, the bought woman Ju Dou and the nephew Yang Tianqing. However, the in-depth excavation and display of human nature and destiny in "Fuxi Fuxi" is comparable to it.

From the tragic fate of the heroine Ju Dou in the semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, to her miserable life as an adult, this work profoundly shows the distortion and resistance of human nature under oppression and bullying.

And the most eye-catching of them is the "nephew" freak love between nephew Yang Tianqing and aunt Ju Dou. Behind this freak love, what is hidden is actually the most ruthless revenge on his uncle Yang Jinshan. The movie version of "Ju Dou" made major changes to the original book, setting Yang Tianqing as Yang Jinshan's adopted son. But in the original work, Yang Tianqing is not Yang Jinshan's adopted son, but his brother's orphan. His hatred for Yang Jinshan has actually begun to grow quietly from the day his uncle adopted him.

In the original book, it was written: "Yang Tianqing has no parents and brothers, he once had, but then he didn't. In the summer when he was eleven years old, his father Yang Jinhe dug a nest on the southern slope of Yushigou and led the family to burn the land on the barren grass beams to make fields. In a few words, it expressed the sadness of Yang Tianqing's life experience and the helplessness of fate. That evening, his father sent young Yang Tianqing to a neighboring village to borrow grain from his uncle Yang Jinshan, because their family's grain reserves were insufficient. However, a sudden rainstorm forced him to spend the night at his uncle's house. When Yang Tianqing picked up the five liters of corn on his back in the early morning of the next day and set out on the road back to Yushigou, he found that the entire southern slope had become unrecognizable.

On that hillside, dozens of acres of woodland and newly cultivated fields had all disappeared due to mudslides triggered by heavy rains, and the valley was almost filled in, including the nests and the sleeping people inside. Yang Qingshan tried to find the survivors, but the hardness of the mud and stone made him return in vain, and only wore out his young hands in vain. Although Uncle Yang Jinshan had the intention to adopt Yang Tianqing, his nephew never recognized him as his father. He resented his uncle's failure to help his family avert disaster, and even believed that his uncle's refusal to support them led to the death of his parents and brother in the mud.

Twelve-year-old Yang Tianqing became Yang Jinshan's adopted son, but he always kept his distance from this only relative. In his eyes, as long as his uncle is willing to share some of the land, his father does not need to go to Yushigou to reclaim wasteland, so that the lives of the whole family may be saved. His resentment against his uncle was buried deep in his heart, how could he easily recognize him as his father? Fortunately, Yang Jinshan is not a stupid person, and he accepts the fact that his nephew is his nephew. He understood that he couldn't have his own biological son in this life, so he treated Yang Tianqing as a long-term worker, and he was quite lenient in life, but he could distinguish it clearly in his bones.

However, Yang Jinshan's harshness pushed the woman Ju Dou to Yang Tianqing. Different from the plot in the movie, when Ju Dou married Yang Jinshan, Yang Tianqing was only sixteen years old, which was the age of youth and enthusiasm. Ju Dou was in his twenties at that time, tall and graceful, and his face was like a budding mushroom. She was wearing a red jacket, like an inextinguishable flame, and her hairpin after the rain shimmered with a jet-black luster, like a piece of charcoal that was about to burn out.

The villagers in the village had a lot of discussions in private, and they were worried that this beautiful girl Ju Dou would be ruined by the fifty-year-old Yang Jinshan. But when they thought that Yang Jinshan generously gave Ju Dou's family twenty acres of watered land as a dowry, their surprise turned into amazement. Ju Dou, this young woman, exudes an irresistible charm. The bright red padded jacket on her body is like a burning flame, representing hope, vitality, love and life. All of this has become fatal to the young man named Tianqing.

Tian Qing, this simple youth, peeked at Ju Dou through the small hole in the barn, and her heart swelled with endless curiosity about women. His desires grew by the day, but he knew that he was falling into a quagmire from which he could not extricate himself. If at this time, Yang Jinshan can comply with the matchmaker's proposal and find a family affair for Tianqing, maybe the tragedy that follows can be avoided. But Yang Jinshan was blinded by his own illusions, he was reluctant to lose Tianqing, a powerful labor force, in his eyes, Tianqing and Ju Dou were just animals in his life, and Ju Dou's status did not surpass Tianqing.

However, everything in the world is changing. The wheels of the times are rolling forward, and although they have temporarily stagnated in the remote villages, they cannot stop their progress after all. Yang Jinshan relied on power and fraud to maintain his position in the village, but all this was destined to last long. Ju Dou, the central character of this story, her existence seems to be the link of all plots. She was bought by **, and originally thought that she could only accept it and accept the arrangement of fate. However, her inner struggle and rebellion will eventually awaken her desire for freedom and dignity.

The turning point of everything began with the misfortune of Ju Dou's family. Yang Jinshan thought that he could be blessed by this marriage, but he did not know that this was the beginning of his destruction. Ju Dou's patience and obedience did not win Yang Jinshan's pity, but made him more unscrupulous and abused her. At the beginning, he also felt distressed for Ju Dou's stomach, after all, there was no man and half woman to inherit the family for him, and he felt that this deal was really a big loss. However, he never dreamed that this decision would make him lose his status as a landlord and demote himself from a small landlord to a middle and upper peasant. Isn't this blessing earned by a woman?

Ju Dou's maiden family has suffered. Yang Jinshan's large bag of silver was all used by Ju Dou's father Wang Mazi to buy land, they lived frugally, and lived a restrained life, but the family was getting richer day by day. They never expected that in the blink of an eye, they would become wicked villains. Before he died, Wang Mazi scolded Yang Jinshan: "Who did I offend?" He's the bully! He usurped my own daughter's ......"This daughter has made the old father miserable! Ju Dou came back from her mother's house with red eyes, and for several nights in a row, the villagers could hear her desolate and helpless cry. It was from that moment that Ju Dou's heart turned from resentment to hatred towards Yang Jinshan. She once thought that no matter how much humiliation she suffered, as long as she had the support of her mother's career, it would be enough to talk about it. However, she never expected that this so-called family business was actually her father's life-saving talisman, and Yang Jinshan not only eliminated his own disaster, but also forcibly took possession of her, and wantonly ** and beat her like an animal. Ju Dou's heart is full of resentment and desire for revenge, shouldn't she resist?

Later, Ju Dou discovered Yang Tianqing**'s own small hole. At first, she was panicked and angry, but then she bravely presented her scarred body in front of Yang Tianqing. Ju Dou decided to challenge the tricks of fate and dealt a heavy blow to Yang Jinshan. She began to bravely pursue her own "love". She said to Yang Tianqing: "Is your uncle a person?" I am tormented by him, and you are tormented by him......Sooner or later, we'll all be tortured to death by this old thing, ...... himYang Tianqing and Ju Dou, who originally regarded Yang Jinshan as the enemy who killed their father, these two lonely and sympathetic people came together. From that moment on, no force could separate them.

Yang Jinshan thought he was shrewd, but because of his greed, stupidity, slamming and selfishness, he personally pushed the "aunt and nephew" under his nose into a deformed relationship. After Ju Dou became pregnant, he was still complacent and thought it was his own child. And Yang Jinshan's ugly and ** behavior is really disgusting. But in the same way, he also symbolizes those who are firmly bound by feudal ideology and rituals. They are rigid in their thinking, and even take pleasure in evil. Such "rotten wood" will eventually be swallowed up by feudal ethics and swallowed up in the torrent of history.

Yang Tianqing's cowardice and evasion, he secretly crossed Chen Cang from his uncle and aunt Ju Dou, although there was a revenge against Yang Jinshan, but it was more of a mutual comfort for the two fallen people at the end of the world. Between them, there is love, mutual understanding and cherishment. If they had left this remote mountain village despite all odds, they might have a different life. However, just as the black baby in "White Deer Plain" resolutely did not leave Tian Xiao'e, Yang Tianqing never thought of leaving her uncle and pursuing another life.

Although he seems to dare to challenge morality and start a forbidden love affair with Ju Dou, Yang Tianqing's "escape" and "ruthless words" reveal his cowardice. When Ju Dou found the small hole of **, he did not face it calmly, but locked the door. When the two were deeply in love, he was frightened when he heard the sound of the door opening. When Ju Dou proposed to kill Yang Jinshan, he was afraid of the suspicion of the villagers, and in order to maintain the image of filial piety, he also took Yang Jinshan to bathe in the river and bask in the sun. Everything Yang Tianqing did showed that he only wanted to be a secret couple with Ju Dou. In the eyes of the villagers, he is still the honest and kind, affectionate and righteous nephew of Yang Jinshan.

The character of Yang Tianqing represents the general crowd in the environment of that era. They have been oppressed by traditional high-pressure rituals for many years, and although they have the sense of resistance, they lack the courage to act. The contradictions in their hearts set the stage for the tragedy of life. At the end of the movie, after Yang Jinshan's death, Yang Tianqing's life was not liberated, he was still bound by feudal ethics and it was difficult to break through many difficulties. Yang Qingshan was forced to leave the dyeing compound, and his "underground husband and wife" relationship with Ju Dou was forced to end. And their children are white, always staring at them with resentful eyes, so that they can not continue to yearn for the "free love". After the last passion between the two was discovered by Tianbai, Tianbai ended Yang Qingshan's life with a stick. Ju Bean is almost insane, and she burns everything that is dirty, vile, and filthy with a single fire.

In the original book, Yang Qingshan couldn't stand Tianbai's disbelief that he was a father, nor could he tolerate the other child that Ju Dou gave birth to for him, which made him continue to live as a brother. Yang Qingshan lived a life of increasing confusion, and finally collapsed in the water tank, ending his bitter and chaotic life. Wang Judou did not return for her nephew's funeral because almost at the same time, she gave birth to a thin baby boy. According to the family's arrangement, they named the child Tianhuang. Although Yang Qingshan went through hardships, he still got a younger brother, the same as Tianbai. Every Qingming Festival, Ju Dou would come to the Yang family's cemetery and sit between the two men. She took out her clean handkerchief, let go of her throat, and sang the saddest of songs: "My miserable man ......”

Teacher Liu Heng's "Fuxi Fuxi" is a novella with historical significance**, which is worthy of careful taste and deep thought. While feeling the distortion and awakening of people under the class oppression and feudal etiquette of that era, we can also conduct in-depth analysis and reflection on the current era. That's what reading this work really means.
