On January 8, 2024, the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Donghua University and Chongqing BMF Precision Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "BMF Precision") held the signing and unveiling ceremony of the Donghua Materials-BMF Precision "M Joint Laboratory". The participants in the unveiling ceremony included Academician Zhu Meifang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Donghua University, Mr. Li Binrong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Donghua University, Dr. Xia Chunguang, Co-founder and CTO of BMF, as well as teachers and students from Donghua University and representatives of BMF.

Donghua University, as a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, has the national key discipline of "materials science" and the state key laboratory of fiber material modification, in which the research on the scientific problems and key technologies of fiber modification and the preparation of reinforced composite materials can provide necessary theoretical guidance for the cooperation projects between the two sides, and can also provide R&D personnel with processing and testing infrastructure, creating a good innovation environment. In the future, the "M Joint Laboratory" will undertake special research projects, with the help of Donghua University's talent, information, scientific research and discipline advantages, as well as BMF's industrialization resources and management experience, to carry out the research and development of new materials that closely follow the market demand, and build the laboratory into a joint industrial incubation base of Donghua University and BMF Precision High-end Technology, further improve the teaching and scientific research level of universities, promote the transformation of scientific research achievements, accelerate the technological progress and product iteration of enterprises, and achieve a win-win situation for universities and enterprises.

Dr. Xia Chunguang, co-founder and CTO of BMF, said in his speech that the vitality of technology lies in solving practical problems. The process of continuously promoting original technology from the laboratory to the industry and the public is inseparable from countless trials and tests of "research-application-re-research-re-application". In this process, in addition to respecting originality and talents, we also need to carry out full academic exchanges and collisions, and we need to break through the boundaries between industries, break the barriers between academia and industry, and work together to promote technological innovation to the depth, find the direction of technology-enabled industries, and inject a steady stream of power into the development of China's manufacturing industry.

For a long time, BMF Precision has adhered to the concept of "opening up and sharing technology", and has been committed to exploring diversified forms of cooperation with universities, scientific research institutions, etc., and has established an "industry-university-research" platform in many places, and has cooperated with a number of scientific research institutes to tackle the next generation of precision manufacturing materials, processes and related application problems. BMF Precision and Donghua University have established the "M Joint Laboratory", which is also an initiative under the concept of openness and sharing. The "M Joint Laboratory" was jointly established by BMF Precision and the team of Academician Zhu Meifang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Donghua University and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Fiber Material Modification.

Representatives of BMF Precision Enterprises and teachers and students of Donghua University witnessed the unveiling of the "M Joint Laboratory".

Academician Zhu Meifang said in her speech that she hoped that the two sides would form a good cooperation and communication mechanism, and that they could focus on precision 3D printing technology, make use of their respective advantages in material research and development and equipment technology, and develop application products that truly meet the needs of the industry through collaborative cooperation.

It is reported that the Mengtai team led by Academician Zhu Meifang was named after the "Mengtai silk" researched and developed by the research group in the early 90s of the last century-fine denier polypropylene fiber. After 2001, the scale and research direction of the research group have gradually expanded and extended, and the old has led the new, and has formed an innovative team led by Academician Zhu Meifang, with interdisciplinary background, integrating basic research and application development. Facing the frontier of discipline development and the major needs of the country and industry, the team carries out innovative research on organic and inorganic hybrid functional materials and high-tech fibers, and is one of the most distinctive and influential research teams in the field of fibers and hybrid materials at home and abroad.
