The first major national archaeological museum to show the Chinese Shang civilization in a panoramic way, the new Yinxu Museum, will officially open in Anyang, Henan Province on February 26.
It is understood that in November 2020, the construction of the new Yinxu Museum started, which is located on the north bank of the Huanhe River in Anyang City, with a building scale of 510,000 square meters, with an exhibition hall area of about 220,000 square meters, focusing on the display of bronze, pottery, jade, oracle bones and other cultural relics nearly 4,000 sets, of which, more than three-quarters of the precious cultural relics belong to the debut. The number and types of cultural relics on display are the largest cultural relics exhibition of the Shang Dynasty in China.
The design scheme of the new Yinxu Museum is based on the "Book of Poetry: Ode to Shang", in the form of green grass terraces, standing earth, layered and deep, and wrapped in bronze, and with a green, low-carbon and sustainable development model as the key, forming a "Chinese model and civilization temple" with Yinxu cultural connotation and archaeological significance. The exhibition focuses on the theme of Shang civilization, including three parts: "Exploring Shang Civilization", "Great Shang Civilization" and "World Shang Civilization", clarifying the development of Shang civilization, showing archaeology with Chinese style, Chinese characteristics and Chinese style, and explaining the world significance of Shang civilization.
