Comrade * (1916-1997) was a long-tested and loyal communist fighter, proletarian revolutionary, veteran of the New Fourth Army, and an outstanding leader of China's foreign economic front and science and technology front, successively serving as vice president, president, secretary of the party group of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the State Science and Technology Commission, secretary of the party group, member of the 11th ** Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, ** secretary, member of the 12th ** Political Bureau, ** former vice premier, and vice chairman of the 7th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
He joined the Communist Youth League of China and became a member of the Communist Party of China. In January, he served as a member of the Party Committee of Hubei, Henan and Anhui Districts, entered Anhui from eastern Hubei and participated in the establishment of an anti-Japanese base in eastern Anhui; In January, he was appointed director of the Political Department of the Fifth Detachment of the New Fourth Army. Since then, Comrade ** has successively served as secretary of the Jinpu Ludong Provincial Party Committee in eastern Anhui, deputy director and director of the Jinpu Ludong Joint Defense Office, member of the Party Committee of the Huainan Jiangsu-Anhui Border District, and director of the Administrative Office of the Huainan Suzhou-Anhui Border District.
During this period, he participated in leading the Huainan military and civilians to smash the "sweep" of the Japanese puppet army and countering the provocative attack of the Kuomintang diehards, participated in and commanded the defense of Bantaji, and led the political power construction, financial and economic construction, cultural and educational construction, and the training of local cadres in the Huainan anti-Japanese base area. In 1942, he concurrently served as deputy director of the Central China Finance Commission. Since then, he has successively served as the vice chairman of the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Region, a member of the Central China Branch of the Communist Party of China, the deputy director of the East China Financial and Economic Office, and the vice chairman of the Shandong Provincial People's Government. During the Liberation War and the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was mainly responsible for the financial and economic work in East China, and served as the deputy director of the East China Finance Committee.
