The PL-15 and PL-17 air-to-air missiles are new advances in the development of domestic air-to-air missile technology, using solid rocket engines, double-pulse technology, high-throw trajectory, adjustable thrust and other technologies to make them have ultra-long distances, can effectively kill the enemy's large-sized targets, and enhance our army's air supremacy. PL-12D, PL-21 and other models of air-to-air missiles are the earliest test models in China, using ram propellants, although in principle has a certain superiority, but in practical application there are many limitations, in terms of distance is not outstanding, so it is gradually eliminated. At the same time, it also shows that in the process of developing China's air-to-air missiles, it has been carrying out independent research and development, which has laid a solid foundation for the development of our army.
