On December 1, the first marine methanol fuel supply system independently developed and manufactured by China State Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Shipbuilding International Academy of Oceanography completed the acceptance, which is a solid step to promote the independent supporting and localization of green ships.
As a clean fuel for marine use, methanol has good economy, safety and availability, and is widely favored by the global shipping market. The marine methanol fuel supply system is the key equipment to provide continuous and stable fuel supply for methanol dual-fuel engines.
The R&D team of Guangzhou Shipyard International Academy of Maritime Sciences has successively overcome many technical difficulties such as the overall scheme design of the ship methanol fuel supply system, the principle and process technology of the supply system, the multi-variable adaptive feedback control technology, the highly integrated skid design technology, the prototype development of the supply system and the application of the actual ship, and completed the independent development and commissioning of the first domestic methanol fuel supply system. On June 2, 2023, it successfully obtained the AIP Principle Recognition Certificate issued by DNV Classification Society, breaking the technological monopoly of foreign enterprises.
According to the relevant person in charge of Guangzhou Shipyard International, the methanol fuel supply unit independently developed by the subsidiary Guangzhou Shipyard International Academy of Maritime Sciences will be used in the methanol dual-fuel carrier built by the company in the follow-up. At the acceptance ceremony, Guangzhou Shipyard International and its subsidiary, Guangzhou Shipyard International Academy of Maritime Sciences, signed a purchase agreement for 10 methanol fuel supply systems.
