The United States, Japan, South Korea, who do we like the most? Foreign netizens have analyzed more thoroughly than us, I don't believe you look down:
First of all, I would like to state that I am not Chinese.
Because of my work, I often contact and chat with all kinds of Chinese.
So, I know some of their real thoughts.
The Chinese have very unique ideas about Koreans. Note that I'm talking about South Korea, not North Korea.
Chinese concern about South Korea
Obviously, the Chinese are not the first to pay attention to South Korea. The country that China is most concerned about is always the United States, and other countries are not worth mentioning. Maybe Russia can also occupy part of the Chinese eyesight, but believe me, the United States accounts for at least 70 of the attention of the Chinese.
However, South Korea is not entirely insignificant. Compared to many countries where Chinese cannot name names, Chinese pay relatively more attention to South Korea. Almost everyone knows that South Korea is in **, knows that its capital is Seoul, and knows that they like to eat Kimchi.
Chinese sentiment towards South Korea
China's sentiment towards South Korea is generally negative. Most Chinese express contempt for South Korea in their chats. Notice that I used the word "contempt". And not "hate". The Chinese don't hate South Korea at all, or they don't think Korea deserves to use the word at all.
Chinese sentiment towards South Korea: contempt
Chinese sentiment towards Japan: feud
Chinese sentiment towards the United States: dislike
In many social surveys, the country with the most negative image of China is South Korea, surpassing Japan and the United States.
It's a very unique emotion. Many Chinese have a long-standing hatred for Japan because of the history of World War II and their current historical attitude, but they do not despise Japan. Many Chinese will even say: Japan has technologies and products worth learning from, and Japan's sportsmanship is very good.
Due to the conflict between China and the United States in recent years, many Chinese also do not like the United States. But they do not "fight" or "despise" the United States, they just "don't like" it. But at the same time, many Chinese will mention the U.S. help in World War II and their history of fighting Japan together.
In other words, although the Chinese do not like the United States and Japan, they can always find a balanced partner. They will say that the United States and Japan also have advantages.
But when facing South Korea, the mood is completely different. The Chinese will hardly mention any positive information about South Korea. Most Chinese think South Korea is useless. That sentiment eased during Park's administration, but has since gotten worse.
3.Negative emotions **
Many people believe that Chinese's negative feelings towards South Korea are better than South Korea's obedience to the United States, such as siding with the United States in the Sino-American conflict, such as the THAAD incident in previous years. But in fact, this is not the case.
The Chinese's contempt for South Korea comes mainly from cultural issues. I can give some examples that they mentioned. (Of course, I did not verify whether the information was accurate and objective, I just paraphrased what the Chinese said).
Koreans are trying to appropriate and compete for culture from China
Some traditional festivals, traditional Chinese medicine, costumes, philosophical ideas and even historical figures such as Confucius have been stolen by Koreans. The behavior of the Koreans is in stark contrast to that of the Japanese.
For example, traditional Chinese medicine has a wide influence on many Asian countries and is a traditional culture. For example, in Japan, traditional Chinese medicine is still referred to as traditional Chinese medicine (or Chinese medicine), but in Korea it has been renamed "Korean medicine". Korean scholars also like to make various remarks, such as Confucius is Korean, and Li Bai is Korean. Chinese calligraphy is Korean and so on.
Chinese have always been proud of their thousands of years of cultural traditions, so they despise this behavior of Koreans.
Koreans have an arrogant mentality
Historically, the Korean Peninsula has been a vassal state of China. The Chinese consider their relationship to be one of "master" and "servant". Because in the last 200 years, China has entered a period of decline. China became a poor and backward country, but after the "Han River Miracle", South Korea's economy rose rapidly and entered the level of developed countries. This gives South Koreans an arrogant mentality, and they generally show condescension when confronted with China and Chinese messages.
20-30 years ago, the Chinese chose to endure because they needed South Korea's capital, investment and technology (as did other developed countries). Young Chinese pursue Korean movies and TV dramas, and see Korean culture as fashionable. However, over the past 20 years, China's economy has grown rapidly. The economic level of the eastern region is already comparable to that of South Korea, and it is far more than South Korea in terms of size. China's literary and artistic works and fashion elements gradually surpassed South Korea's.
In Confucianism, the "golden mean" is a key moral quality. He urged the Chinese people to "not be arrogant when they are rich, and not to be inferior when they are poor." The North Korean people's trait of "being proud of being rich as soon as they get rich" falls squarely within the worst range of China's moral values.
In addition, South Korea's capital and technology are outdated in the eyes of the Chinese. They are not willing to tolerate this attitude of the Koreans anymore, so they turn this mentality into contempt for South Korea.
South Korea's weakness
China and South Korea actually have a common interest in dealing with Japan. The Chinese once mentioned that the friendship between China and South Korea depends on Japan. This means that if there is friendship with Koreans, it is entirely because they don't like the Japanese.
China and South Korea share common interests on issues such as World War II history, the ** issue, World War II labor issues, nuclear wastewater issues, whaling, and island disputes. They worked together against Japan on these issues.
But the performance of the Koreans made the Chinese feel very bad. They compromised not only on the *** issue, but also with Japan on the issue of nuclear wastewater. This makes the Chinese feel that South Korea is "just a weak person" and "not worth cooperating."
Therefore, the negative sentiment of Chinese towards South Korea comes mainly from the cultural sphere, rather than politics, economics and history. But the most profound is the conflict at the cultural level.
