On February 24, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with the management of the Chinese BYD automaker at the Karmelita Monastery and learned about the company's investments in Hungary, said H**Asi Bertalan, state secretary of the Hungarian Prime Minister's press office.
As one of the most important investments in Hungary's economic history, China's BYD, the world's largest electric car manufacturer, is building its first European car factory in Szeged, H**ASI Bertalan said. This important investment will create thousands of jobs in Hungary and will also bring about technological change that will benefit local businessmen.
Prime Minister Orban said at the meeting that the purpose is not only to promote the economic development of Szeged, but also to make the local residents feel the positive impact of economic development in their daily lives. To this end, they are initiating the development of infrastructure worth billions of huints, including transportation, utilities and community services.
The two sides stressed that Hungary has been the largest destination for Chinese investment in Central and Eastern Europe for many years. Over the past decade, Hungary has established stable and mutually respectful relations with China, and has set new records in economic and trade cooperation every year.
