In many American movies, we can often see bandits gather a lot of firepower to fight the police to the death, and even in some movies, there are criminal-controlled areas, where guns are like cabbage, and they can be bought on the streets.
This kind of scene makes people sigh: "This is really abroad!" In fact, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, there really existed a three-way zone that only existed in this kind of movie, that is, "Pingyuan Street" where guns and drugs were bought and sold on the street at will.
Do you still remember the gangster Zhang Ziqiang who once shocked the world? After he **, the police asked him during interrogation: "You got these submachine guns and explosives from **?" ”
Zhang Ziqiang replied: "It's useless for you to ask, do you dare to go?" Even if you knew, you wouldn't care. Hearing this answer, the interrogating police were very surprised, could it be that this place is abroad?
Is it outside the scope of law enforcement by the Chinese police? This is not the case. During Zhang Ziqiang's interrogation, he revealed that all his arms were bought on Pingyuan Street. He said, as long as it is what you want, there is everything here, even the gangster Zhang Ziqiang must be honest and obedient here.
So, what kind of place is Pingyuan Street? Why is it so rampant?
Pingyuan Street, located in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, is a multi-ethnic village and town. However, in the 80s, despite the fact that the average salary here was only 300 yuan, the people of the village already owned villas.
Their way to riches is not the right way, but through the trafficking of drugs and arms. Since then, some underworld forces have begun to infiltrate here, and they have carried out criminal activities such as drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and stolen goods, and even used force and agencies.
Here, the rule of law and the law have been forgotten and replaced by a zone of lawlessness. It is said that the number of people here cannot be accurately counted even by the superiors, because people here do not apply for household registration and ID cards, and they do not apply for marriage certificates when they get married, and some men even marry four wives, and those who farm do not pay agricultural taxes, and those who do business do not pay taxes.
The streets are full of stolen cars, and murder and robbery have become the norm in broad daylight.
In order to completely eliminate the rampant bandits in Pingyuan Street, China dispatched more than 100 military vehicles and 3,000 armed police officers to encircle and suppress them. This large-scale military operation even alarmed the Pentagon, when the United States monitored our military operations on the Sino-Vietnamese border through satellites, thinking that we were going to start a war again.
So, why did Pingyuan Street become like this? What is the reason for the rampant arms and drugs here? To answer these questions, we must mention a war - the "Sino-Vietnamese border self-defense and counter-attack".
During the war, Wenshan Prefecture, which was originally managed by the grassroots level, became managed by the troops, and the front-line troops paid more attention to the battlefield and neglected the management of the rear.
At this time, the underworld forces took advantage of the situation, and they used religion and national concepts to turn people into a force for confrontation. The Wenshan area is an important support base for the rear of the theater and is also the only way for front-line troops to transport supplies, arms and ammunition.
During this period, the black forces incited the people to loot, but the troops believed that this was due to the lack of food and other materials caused by the war intrusion, and did not investigate in depth. The war transformed Pingyuan Street into a place of violence and chaos.
Figure 4 shows that the underworld forces gradually acquired more guns from small pistols in the early 80s, even heavy ** such as bazookas, and finally the guns seized were enough to equip a regiment.
This shows that in the heyday of Pingyuan Street, Sin City, the firepower of the bandits was very strong. The end of the Sino-Vietnamese War and the improvement of border relations normalized relations between China and countries such as Vietnam and Laos.
The signing of the "Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation" gave Pingyuan Street an unexpected benefit. At that time, Myanmar's big drug lord Khun Shah wanted to sell his drugs to China's big market.
Opium is cultivated extensively in the Golden Triangle, especially in northern Myanmar, and can even be traded as currency. However, Myanmar** is unable to stop this.
The Golden Triangle, a border region between Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, has always been very poor, with only timber, jade and opium as its main source of income.
However, although the unit price of opium is not too high, it is enough to support the needs of the local warlord army, and the refined *** can make hundreds of times more profit.
After Kun Sha took power, he established his own first-class factory and created the "Double Lion Earth Mark" with a purity of up to 100%**, marking that the "Double Lion Earth Mark" has become a symbol of high purity in the drug industry.
The détente between Laos and Vietnam and the armistice between China and Vietnam made Khun Sa excited, and he planned to enter the Chinese market through Vietnam. But the China-Myanmar border is not just his world, there are other bigwigs.
Peng Jiasheng, Lin Xianming, Bao Youxiang and others announced that they would no longer touch drugs and sell to China, so it is impossible to enter China through the China-Myanmar border. As a result, Vietnam became the only thoroughfare in Khun Sha, and Pingyuan Street was its first stop in China.
Khun Sa transports drugs across the Mekong River to Pingyuan Street, where they are then exported by local drug lords to places such as Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. According to statistics, in 1991, the No. 4 *** sold in Pingyuan Street alone reached 20 tons.

Shockingly, more than 500 stolen vehicles, including police cars and military vehicles, were stored on Pingyuan Street. On one occasion, a field communications vehicle of the 14th Army was stolen, and when the vehicle was found, it was intercepted by civilians at gunpoint.
In the end, the army spent 20,000 yuan to redeem the vehicle, and the chief in charge of the matter said that this was a kind of wimp that he had never experienced. In addition, police cars of the public security were also stolen, such as the 212 jeep of the Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department was stolen and sold to Baxian County, Hebei Province.
When the public security officers tracked down Pingyuan Street, they were intercepted by dozens of bandits armed with submachine guns, and they could only return in vain. These incidents have made the arrogance of Pingyuan Street even more arrogant, and they do not even pay attention to the public security.
In 1991, while investigating a case, a public security officer was unfortunately caught and disabled by a drug lord, breaking his hamstring.

In such a place where crime breeds and criminals are rampant, there were frequent incidents of resistance to law enforcement as early as the mid-to-late 80s. In 1987 there were 31 cases, in 1988 there were 42 cases, in 1989 there were 58 cases, in 1990 there were 81 cases, and in 1991 there were 130 cases.
It also housed a large number of escaped prisoners, many of whom were sentenced to death. But all this failed to attract the attention of **. After all, the crime situation in this remote area has not yet reached the level of alarm.
However, as time went by, the crime became more and more rampant, and Pingyuan Street finally did a shocking thing. Bombed, furious. On March 30, 1992, Jin Shouping, secretary of the Wenshan Prefecture Political and Legal Committee, Wang Mingliang, a cadre of the Provincial Ethnic Affairs Committee, and four public security officers came to Pingyuan Street to arrest a criminal.
Wang Mingliang had been mentally prepared for this, because this village has been famous in the local area for a long time.
Police officer Wang Mingliang led the police to a villa to prepare for the arrest of the criminal. However, the door to the villa was closed, and they could only leave two guards to enter through the back door.
Unbeknownst to them, the back door was not locked, and they immediately opened the door and entered, ready to arrest the criminal. But at this moment, a grenade flew in front of him and smashed directly in front of Wang Mingliang.
In the shock wave and firelight of the grenade **, the first floor was instantly surrounded, and the policemen who had not yet entered the door were also blown out. The remaining policemen were stunned, they had never imagined that anyone would dare to attack the police so blatantly, using grenades.
After hearing the ** sound, the police guarding immediately moved closer to the villa. At this moment, a dense burst of gunfire rang out, and the two sides began to fire fiercely. However, the pistol of ** is simply not able to fight the fire of the opponent's submachine guns.
The police outside the villa could only quickly find cover and call for backup. Even when reinforcements arrived, the opponent's firepower remained unabated. Finally, the gunfire stopped.
The officers in Figure 9 are trying to approach the villa in search of cover, but are forced to retreat in a sudden fire. The criminals apparently wanted to burn down the house before escaping.
When they entered the back door, the scene in front of them made everyone angry. Wang Mingliang and Jin Shouping have been blown beyond recognition, and their bodies have been burned terribly by the fire.
What's even more infuriating is that Wang Mingliang's hand, the charred hand, points to the location of the door. This means that after **, he did not die immediately, but was burned alive by the fire.
A secretary of the political and legal committee led the police to arrest criminals, but was injured and burned alive during the arrest operation. This is a major event that has not happened in the decades since the founding of the country.
After the news was reported, this incident quickly attracted the attention of **, and even the Ministry of Public Security was deeply shocked. In order to completely eradicate the underworld forces in Pingyuan Street, a special task force was quickly established.
But catching criminals is not like fighting a war, you need to destroy the enemy as much as possible. On the contrary, arrests need to ensure the safety of the people while having sufficient evidence.
Therefore, the most urgent task at present is to conduct a thorough investigation of Pingyuan Street. So, a group of young police officers, dressed in civilian clothes, came to this sin city.

In this era when the average salary per capita is only a few hundred yuan, such a sight is really rare. What's even more amazing is that the people here have become accustomed to drug trafficking and gun trafficking, and they know how to enjoy life after they are rich, and the drug dealers have spared no expense to hire top designers and first-class construction teams in Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan and other places to build luxurious villas with high-grade building materials, marble walls and floors, aluminum alloy doors and windows, each room is equipped with vertical air conditioning and high-end carpets, and even has its own garden, swimming pool, ballroom and bar.
What's even more shocking is that as soon as I arrived here, the drug dealer came forward to ask if he needed to buy a pure No. 4 *** or **, which made it impossible to imagine that in China, where the legal system is so sound, there is such an illegal place.
The scouts revealed ***'s thoughts, and the drug dealers immediately took them to a villa with ecstatic properties, which contained a large amount of ** equipment, including light machine guns, submachine guns, automatic rifles, grenades, rocket launchers and anti-tank mines, etc., which were so numerous that even if they were equipped with a regiment, they were more than enough.
When the investigator asked if he had a pistol, the drug dealer said no, and suggested that he go to Hualong, Qinghai to buy it. Through in-depth investigation, the investigators gradually grasped the situation of the arms black market on Pingyuan Street.
There were once five tycoons and more than 20 major criminal gangs on Pingyuan Street, the largest of which was Lin Hongen, who was the deputy mayor and secretary of the party branch, but was actually the leader of a family-style drug trafficking gang.
He once mobilized 100 people to surround the county ** with guns and live ammunition for harboring criminal suspects, and demanded 470,000 yuan in compensation before stopping. In addition, Wang Baoen, secretary of the Tianxin Village Party branch, Lin Hongzhou, deputy party secretary, Ma Huichun and Sha Weijun, religious stewards, and others were also involved in the case.
After learning the details, the investigation team understood that there would be a vicious battle ahead, but for the sake of national tranquility, these vicious forces must be eradicated. They decided to start by eradicating the Big Five.
At the same time as reporting the situation and starting to arrest them, they set up a Hongmen banquet in the name of holding a meeting and quietly arrested several people.
After receiving the news on August 29, 1992, the Big Five came to Yunnan Province to attend the meeting. What they didn't expect was that the armed police had already surrounded this place, just waiting for them to fall into the legal net.
Eventually, several people arrived in a car, and the moment they stepped into the conference room, several hands suddenly appeared behind them and pressed them to the ground, and then they were handcuffed coldly.
With the ** of the Big Five, the net collection action of Pingyuan Street has also begun. More than 100 military vehicles with more than 3,000 heavily armed armed police officers marched towards Pingyuan Street.
In addition, in order to prevent trouble, the armed police in Guizhou, Guangxi, and other neighboring provinces have also been armed with guns and ready for battle. In the event of a major fire fight ahead and reinforcements are needed, they will be dispatched immediately.
In order to prevent criminals from escaping, the armed police and the local traffic police jointly enforce the law, implement traffic control on local highways, set up road blocks, and conduct strict inspections of passing vehicles and pedestrians.
In the end, the large army took advantage of the darkness and entered Pingyuan Street. To ensure that no fish slip through the cracks, combatants are deployed in every street to provide support at all times.
By the time all the teams had verified the drug dealers' villas, it was 7 a.m. As more than 20 military vehicles sounded their horns, all the officers and men of the armed police immediately began to arrest and launch a strong attack on more than 20 hideouts of the underworld and evil forces that had been investigated in advance.

In order to protect the safety of the personnel, the armed police shouted to the outside world, hoping that Ma Ming would realize that he was surrounded and surrender. However, Ma Ming fired a shuttle of bullets and threw several grenades, fortunately the armed police had taken precautions, otherwise the losses would have been very serious.
Since Ma Ming refused to surrender, he could only attack hard. The armed police soldiers divided into two routes, one way to occupy the commanding heights of the house, and attacked from the roof; The other team approached the main entrance, disrupting Ma Ming's vision and blasting the gate.
However, Ma Ming's position was very advantageous, and he frantically shot at the armed police at the door. At this moment, the captain Yang De ordered the use of tear gas, and several tear gas canisters were thrown into the villa, taking advantage of this opportunity, the armed police quickly blasted the gate.
Tear gas also worked, and Ma Ming and others lost their direction and shot indiscriminately. Yang De quickly came to Ma Ming's position, but due to the good wind, Ma Ming quickly blew away the smoke, and Yang De was also knocked out by Ma Ming's cold ** helmet.
Figure 15 shows that when the evil forces led by Ma Ming put up a stubborn resistance in the villa, the armed police officers and soldiers downstairs quickly counterattacked with heavy firepower, and several rocket launchers instantly destroyed half of the villa.
Seeing that the situation was not good, Ma Ming jumped from the second floor, and fled while fighting back. However, the officers and soldiers of the armed police downstairs did not relax their vigilance because of this, and they all went out to form a tight encirclement of Ma Ming.
In the end, Ma Ming was knocked down by the armed police officers and soldiers, and the entire evil force gang was wiped out. In this operation, all the evil gangs in Pingyuan Street were cleaned up, and those who voluntarily surrendered guns and drugs were given lenient treatment, either released on the spot or given a lighter punishment.
This preferential treatment has inspired courage and honesty among the people, many of whom have voluntarily surrendered, and even some who have long fled abroad have returned to China. After 81 days of hard work, more than 800 criminals in Pingyuan Street were all arrested, and the seized drugs and ** were enough to equip a regiment.
This operation completely eradicated the evil forces in Pingyuan Street and brought peace and security to the local residents.
Figure 16 is a strong proof that our current stable and free life is the stability that the front-line public security, anti-narcotics police, and armed police soldiers have exchanged their lives for. The case of Pingyuan Street is not an isolated case, but it is the largest of them.
In fact, every year there are heroic anti-narcotics police officers who die in the line of duty, and although we don't know their names, we will always remember them. On the road of sweeping away organized crime and eliminating evil, the Chinese police will always remain vigilant.
It all stems from what the chairman said, "serving the people".
