According to market research firm Dell'The latest report from Oro Group, preliminary survey results show that the global Radio Access Network (RAN) market ended 2023 with another difficult quarter, resulting in a nearly $4 billion reduction in RAN market revenue for the whole of last year. However, despite these challenges, the fourth quarter of 2023 still exceeded expectations, in part due to the strong 5G deployment in the Chinese market.

dell'"After strong growth between 2017 and 2021, it is clear that the broader overall RAN market is experiencing setbacks right now, as two of our six tracked regions are facing significant declines," said Stefan Pongratz, Vice President of Market Research at Oro Group RAN. In addition to the challenging market environment in North America and Europe, the gap between advanced and lagging operators in the first wave of 5G is narrowing compared to previous technology cycles, which initially had a positive impact but is now limiting the growth prospects of the global 5G and overall RAN market. ”

Other highlights of the Q4 2023 Global RAN Market Report include:

The overall concentration of the RAN market showed signs of improvement in 2021 and 2022, but in 2023, this progress slowed.

Although the full-year ranking of the major ** players in the RAN market remained basically unchanged, the revenue share of the RAN market showed greater volatility, and both Huawei and ZTE increased their global revenue share. Similarly, Huawei and Nokia have seen an increase in their share of revenue outside of China.

The top 5 RAN** companies in the global market are Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE and Samsung.

The market remains largely unchanged across regions, and the market is expected to remain challenging in 2024 due to challenges for future growth in the Indian market. Still, based on the base case, a more modest pace of decline is expected this year.
