Speaking of Hangzhou West Lake, it is natural to think of the "Three Pools and the Moon", which has the reputation of "the first scenic spot of West Lake". "Three pools of the moon" is the largest island in the West Lake, the plane is in the shape of "Tian", constituting the "lake in the lake", "island in the island" and "garden in the garden", also known as "Xiaoyingzhou". However, what impressed people the most were the three vase-shaped stone pagodas standing on top of the lake on the south side of the island. This is thanks to the "Three Pools and Moons" pattern printed on the back of the fifth set of RMB 1 Yuan banknotes. The most interesting thing about the stone tower is that the belly of the tower is hollow, the body of the tower is distributed with five round holes, every time the full moon is reflected in the lake, the candle flame is lit in the tower, and the bright moon competes for brilliance up and down, forming the scenery of "the bright moon imprints the water abyss, the stone tower comes to take pictures", it is named "the moon in the three pools". It can be seen that the three towers have become the symbol of "three pools and the moon". The oil painting "Three Pools and the Moon" in the collection of the National Art Museum of China was painted in 1963, showing the scenery of the West Lake with three stone pagodas as the scene. The author, Qin Xuanfu, is an outstanding oil painter, art historian and art educator of the older generation. He studied in France, and after returning to China in 1934, he taught in the Western Painting Department of Beiping Art College and the Fine Arts Department of ** University. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as a professor and head of the Department of Fine Arts of Nanjing Normal University, and served as the vice chairman of the Jiangsu Branch of the Chinese Artists Association and the vice chairman of the National Art Education Research Association. The picture angle of "Three Pools and the Moon" is broad, the image is generalized, the colors are soft, the emotions are full, and the artistic conception is far-reaching. In terms of composition, the artist uses a large area of water to push the green mountains and Su Causeway into the distance, the near scene expresses the rippling ripples of the lake with dynamic brushstrokes, and the middle scene uses stone towers, boats, Su Causeway, and stone bridges to subtly show the depth of the water surface. In terms of color, the painter boldly simplifys, using orange tones that echo the sky to express the backlit water surface, in the harmony of water and sky, integrating the faint light blue in the sky, the gray blue and gray brown jumping in the lake, and the light green and blue to express the Su Causeway and the distant mountains, which not only expresses the hazy spring in layers, but also divides the colors of the sky and the lake, and renders a cheerful and bright mood together with the warm colors of the whole picture, which brilliantly expresses the author's sincere emotions and the beauty of the motherland's rivers and mountains. Song Zhengyin, who was also an early oil painter, once commented on Qin Xuanfu's Hangzhou sketch landscape paintings, affirming: "He tried to integrate Chinese freehand painting and explore works with a national artistic style. ”
