Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 15 (Reporter Wang Libin) In order to serve the realization of the "double carbon" goal, China has actively promoted carbon sequestration geological surveys and related technical tests and made a series of new progress.
The reporter recently learned from the China Geological Survey that at present, China continues to deepen the research on carbon sequestration mechanism, site selection, monitoring and other technologies, explore and carry out artificial intervention to increase karst carbon sink experiments, and promote the major demonstration site selection of million-ton carbon sequestration in northern Shaanxi and the pilot test of geological energy storage in the Yellow River Delta. At present, the evaluation of carbon sequestration selection areas in key sea areas such as the Bohai Sea and the South Yellow Sea has been completed. Jiangxi and Shandong have explored and carried out carbon storage potential evaluation and carbon sequestration experiments in saline aquifers in sedimentary basins. For the first time, Guangxi carried out the investigation and evaluation of karst carbon sinks in underground river basins.
According to reports, in 2024, China will continue to carry out the national survey of geological carbon storage and carbon sinks, and complete the national karst carbon sink potential assessment; strengthen the evaluation of carbon sequestration potential in key basins, and delineate a number of target areas; Deepen the investigation of surface matrix, start the investigation of surface substrate such as the Huanghuaihai grain production area and the permafrost area of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and drive the active participation of all provinces; Carry out land quality geochemical surveys, and build and improve the national and regional land quality geochemical monitoring network.
