The "first thunder" of the automotive industry in the Year of the Dragon
Can Gaohe cars come back to life?
On February 20, in the Wufang Tianya Automobile Service Park near Beijing's East Fifth Ring Road, the sales staff of the Gaohe Delivery Center store were still enthusiastically introducing their new cars to customers, and several after-sales personnel were chatting outside the store. More than 900 kilometers away, in the Gaohe foundry in Yancheng, Jiangsu, all production work has come to a standstill.
Due to the company's adjustment, except for the normal operation of the Wufang Tianya delivery center, the rest of the exhibition halls will be withdrawn. A salesperson of the Gaohe delivery center store told the Economic Observer that because the factory has been shut down, the two stores that are currently only open in Beijing have not accepted new orders.
In the Beijing area, the Blue Harbor Gaohe Experience Store, located near Chaoyang Park, is still operating. According to the staff of the store, the lease of the store will expire around the end of February, and it will also enter the closure mode after that.
On February 18, the first day of resumption of work during the Spring Festival in the Year of the Dragon, Gaohe Automobile held an internal meeting and announced that it would suspend work and production for 6 months from now on. Subsequently, many news spread such as the closure of some stores of Gaohe Automobile across the country, the dismissal of outsourced employees, and the embarkation of regular employees on the road of rights protection. All of a sudden, the Gaohe Automobile, which once surpassed the Porsche Taycan in monthly sales of a single model, came to the brink of life and death.
