According to C4ISRNET on February 22, among the various aviation** exhibited at the Singapore Airshow, attendees could see an extraordinary product at ST Engineering's huge booth: unmanned ground vehicles equipped with multi-rotor drones.
TAURUS is the first public demonstration of ST Engineering, a large state-owned company in Singapore, with its latest remotely operated product.
Allegedly, the company completed the development of a four-wheel-drive electric vehicle last year, but did not launch customers, so it was unveiled at this week's air show.
ST Engineering representatives said that the unmanned vehicle can be used for surveillance, evacuation of the wounded, logistics transportation and material handling, and its monitoring configuration has attracted the most attention. For material handling, the company will install robotic arms for the vehicles.
The version at the exhibition showed the company's DRN-15 multi-rotor drone, which can fly out of the operator's line of sight. The drone has been approved for flight by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
When running in all-electric mode, it can travel a distance of about 19 miles and has a base weight of about 3,527 pounds.
The Taurus is very useful for manned and unmanned teams, which can be operated with the eight-wheel drive TerrexS5 infantry fighting vehicle produced by the company ST Engineering (also launched at the exhibition).
ST Engineering has recently introduced a number of unmanned ground vehicles, including the Hunter tracked platform, which the company developed as a private company.
